Hi everyone,

A week ago I purchased a new 2016 model 17.56-2 expanda outback. This will be our first van. We have been camper trailer users for the past 6 years and we are really looking forward to an upgrade into the van.
I will be towing with a 2011 GU Patrol.

My question is about WDH and trigg hitches. I have ordered the van with a trigg coupling as we will be taking it off road a bit.(not sure if this is a good move or not?) I'm so confused about the towing setup!!

As I have a genuine Nissan towbar, can a WDH be fitted to it? Also can a trigg coupling be used with a WDH. I have read so much information, spoken to towbar companies and Nissan about what I need and am more confused than ever.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

First off welcome to the forum, you'll enjoy the upgrade to the Expanda.

Secondly Yes you can use a WDH with Trigg hitch however the receiver bracket on the car side of things needs to be from a TREG hitch' Yes there is two types with similar names it only the car bit that's different and you need an adaptor plate,
also the bars need to be removed once you hit the rough stuff.

This is the Trig hitch which Jayco normally use.

Ditto on Bushmans comments you will find the Treg/Trig to be a great hitch, very quiet but does need the pin lubed and don't attempt steep climbs if your rig is at too much of a side angle as the hitch can catch, will never let go but you can damage the poly block.....correct set up will allow a WDH.
If you have a rear cam point it down to hook up and with practice will get it lined up first go...

:welcome: you will find heaps of info here and hopefully a lot of laughs as well.

thanks for the reply guys. So much great information on this site!!

I'll look around at the different options. So many differing opinions about which way to go. All I want is something that assists for on road towing and can use a wdh with, but also a hitch for good off road capability.

The van is currently being built and should be ready in early April. Can't wait! We went with a few extras including the storm covers, external shower, coast to coast panel(tank gauge) and the show pack(tv, tv antenna, stereo)

Hey mate welcome to the group. This is a very helpful site with some great people and advice. I like the 50mm ball with the WDH i can mostlikely get you one at cost price too.
