After some advice from the brains trust.

question is how to cook bacon and eggs, (eggs in particular) on the weber q.

I bought a half plate / griddle thingy to assist and it cooked the bacon great, put the eggs on and they stuck. Picture on the box of the half plate / griddle showed that you can cook eggs?

Any advice ? Though about getting a BBQ mat (non stick) for the half plate, but open to ideas before we do.

@Fabulous we originally had a split plate but i found the time to heat the plate took quite a while this is possibly why you food is sticking so for about $60 i bought a flat plate insert that fits inside the weber q100 and removed the grill plate .The split plate is a good idea but it takes up a large surface area compared to the amount of bacon you may need to cook . Also did you season you half plate before use.

@Fabulous I believe @mrsmfexpanda has hit the nail on the head, I use the small breakfast plate with our baby q and I had the same problem until the plate became well seasoned, not an issue now.

I hate the dirty stinking smoky greasy BBQ grills .... preferring a flat griddle. Ive been forced the leave the two half cast grill plates on the Weber for the pizza use (mmmm nom nom). I found a square light weight alum non stick griddle plate with lipped sides from Anaconda ... slight beating of the corners and its fits in the Q100 like a glove. The grill plates under it even out the heat and its non stick, non mess, non weight, wipes clean. $30

I cook a lot of pizzas on our Baby Q using the stone:pizza:, the heat generated whilst doing this completely dries the grill plate out so after I have done a pizza while the grill is still hot I ensure I oil it straight away to re-season it.

I have found that all of the Weber hot plate gear needs to be well seasoned:hungry:.
