Howdy all. Looking thru some of the other sites mainly aimed at grey nomads, I notice the constant gripe about park fees and NP costs, with what it cost per month to be on the road long term. Well, this may be of interest. I have 13 acres between Yea and Bonnie Doon, 2ponds and a dam, with a beautiful all year crystal clear creek with wild brown trout, crays etc. good cleared area with a small Offgrid system running 24v stored power. Some water storage.
With the cabin removed from the site l am struggling to get up there with work and house building commitments. Throw in kids sport and the odd trip with the Expanda and I am fairly time poor this year. I am considering allowing a long term individual or couple with time up their sleeve that is looking for a place to set up camp for a while. Their van would need a toilet and shower and a generator as my Offgrid will not power van air cons but will do microwaves, water pumps lights etc. toilet cassette would prob need to be emptied in town. There is probably some local work if required fruit picking ( plenty during cherry season ), or in town or at the pub ( about 9km's away ) or on various farms.
This could be an ongoing annual thing for the right candidate. Plenty of firewood, however the winter rains can make the low lying land very wet, but one of the driveways in is fully covered with crushed rock so 18-19ft vans should get in out easily thru the main drive. Bigger vans will need to keep watch on the exit out.
In return, a little maintenance would be much appreciated. Things that need upkeep are -
Some mowing but normally only full on during spring
Weeding the large veggie gardens
Collecting firewood and burning off
Spraying blackberries before the frosts set in
Weed spraying the driveway
Some basic fencing and woodwork jobs that l have not got to yet
Shooting rabbits if your into that
Their would be lot of trust put into this peron from my end so really only looking for mature individuals that can treat my property as their's and with respect. Looked at Exploreoz but didn't really find an area to post. Really only looking for quality people that are prepared to stay for awhile. If you know of a suitable site to post, or of an interested family member contact me here. Plenty of local trout and native fishing at Eildon, deer shooting inthe hills, rabbit shooting on mine, dirt bike riding inthe hills etc, or just chill out, enjoy the serenity and take some time to find yourself.
