Looking to upgrade our 16 41 1 from 2009 for a new 17 56 2, I'm pleasantly surprised with trade in offers of around 26-28k on a 46k drive away price for the 2014 17'.

Any thoughts or comments? I would love to stretch for the OB model. But at 20K change over for the standard model, I'm not to fused.

The current 16' includes deep cycle battery, battery switch, anderson plug, under swung axle, LED lightening, Vinyl Annex (only used twice) everything in excellent cond.

Cheers,

Sounds similar to the offer we just signed up for. Signed up for a 2014 17.56.2 Outback, that was ordered for stock/display, the day after it was delivered to Perth (Built on a leaf spring chassis though) at a great price of $49.3K after rebate for "Downgraded suspension" and some upcoming caravan show discounts + a few extras.

Was surprised to get a trade-in offer for our 16.49.3 non Outback of $24K with similar options to yours. Asked for the option to advertise ours privately between signing and pick-up and ended selling it fo $27K the next day.... Happy as a Pig in Mud to say the least :) Just have to wait for the cheque to clear before we can pick up the new one.

Make sure you ask what they can include in the new one when negotiating.... You could be pleasantly surprised!!

Try and get a definite trade in price. I would think with what your van has you may better trying to sell privately (try on this forum..its free :)). Sounds a good van worth more than $28k also seeing its a hard lid model.

Also there has been some ripper used ones come up recently, something around 2012 vintage. I think you could get an excellent low use 17.56.2 . Anyway just a thought. The beauty of the 17.56.2 is they are so popular, they always come up. You would be able to stretch for that Outback;) with extra onions.

definitely worth way more than that, but trade in do depend on the cost of the new van.
just going on my own experiences just prior to Christmas

I've seen a few 16.49 vans here on Gumtree asking a lot more than the 28k. I now I would want more for mine - but then I wouldn't tradein, but sell privately.

I just put a deposit on a 2014 standard 17.56-1 for $44,700 with these extras:

Alko drop down jacks
Underslung Axles
Second Gas Bottle + fittings + BBQ bayonet
External Shower and Hotwater Service
Alpine Add a Room Annexe + floor matting
Reich Caravan Mover
120w solar panel, battery and inverter*
Wind up antenna
Drifter control panel
2nd water tank
Privacy Screens

* Melbourne Caravan Show Special

I think I got a good deal. The shower model would have been another $3g, but we preferred the extra internal space. I would have loved the OB model but it's too high and couldn't get it under the carport.

Anyway, I hope this helps you work out your deal.

After impatiently waiting over a month to sell it privately, I gave up the ghost and traded. It was going to be on a 2014 touring 17:56:2 but at the last minute the awesome team at Jayco Sydney did me a 30k trade on a Outback 17:56:2 brand new runout 2013 stock. So for 21k change over, I'm a very happy glamper.

yup pretty excited now... just need to work out best option for Solar Pack. As I think 850 is a little steep, especially given the bulk of the Solar readiness is pre-wired on the Outback. Battery and 2 x 120W pannels should be okay (roof mounted) and well regulated.
