Just so we are clear I have posted this because John Rooth is a personal friend.

If we don't act now what we love for ourselves and our children will be gone..........

I think this site, the people involved and its ideals are important. John is a mate but I would promote this site irrespective........

I see where he is going and good on him, in the sixties we used to camp most weekends in the bush and have respect for it as well, not sure what happened but these days the amount of people (tourists, caravanners and campers) who treat the bush like a rubbish tip has me absolutley bewilderd. we stopped on the road between Cobar and Bourke over the christmas break so the wife could have a pee (in the ensuite) whilst I thought I would do my best to help break the drought, honestly I couldn't believe the amount of toilet tissure in the bushes, on the ground and all over, it looked as if it was snowing and this was just woment taking a pee. On Indian Head on Fraser island you wont believe the amount of plastic packaging, mainly bait that litters the shore line, it's disgusting and this is only the start and only an example. We lived in the bush and respected it, now no-one seems to give a rats and just chuck crap where ever and appart from damaging the environment it costs money to cleen the bloody mess up, and, we colectively will be the first to whinge if costs are implemented to use it, what the answer is I have no idea.

I have only just recently (last couple of years) found out the "free camping" was being eradicated so to speak, we took it for granted as kids and adults. Funny thing everyone is bitching about the young backpackers from OS "illegal" camping in OUR streets, up here its making the news also, Mooloolaba beach car park is becoming a favourite place and why not? it has showers. toilets. fresh water, pay BBQ's and a view to die for, but its illegal to stay overnight!! Next door is the Mooloolaba caravan park, council owned and for a small fee of $43 per night they can park there, which is $300 per week!! Maybe if the local authorities welcomed OS back packers they could make something available, they still have to eat and drink FFS.

Hey @DRW will be at Dicky Beach for the weekend of the 4th to the 6th July........LUNCH?........
Shoot me a reminder during the week, I just bought a new battery for the Harley so I should put it in and give it a run (old one died from lack of use) and I have been meaning to check out Dicky Beach for a weekender as well.
