My expanda was bought second hand. Its fitted with MUD tread pattern tyres.
Why would anybody do this ? They look great ( aggressive ) but I only see disadvantages of throwing stones etc.
Any ideas? john

By reading your signature it is an '07 they will be the factory tyres at a guess as that's what they came with in '07.

I'd probably consider swapping them as they are getting a bit long in the tooth age wise which and they may blowout as the rubber perishes more the older they are. Even if the tread depth is fine its the age of them.

Jayco fitted Muddie's to ALL Outbacks for a while then went to All Terrians,

Read somewhere the tyres should be replaced after 5 years regardless of wear.

Thanks for your ideas guys. The bloke who sold me the van told me he had tyre troubles & fitted all new ones. He had service station & sold tyres & chose to put muddies on. I don't like the idea of stone damage by the mud pattern tyres so I am going to replace them with road tyres A/T. Also they could be over 5 years old.
