Warning of toxic algae in the Murray River

By

People are being warned not to enter parts of the Murray River in Victoria - or let their pets swim in the water - following an outbreak of toxic blue-green algae.

High levels of the algae have been detected in the river near the towns of Barham, Cobram, Cohuna, Echuca, Gunbower, Nathalia, Numurkah, Torrumbarry and Yarrawonga, the state government said on Monday.

People should avoid contact with the water which can't be made safe for drinking, cooking or washing, even if boiled.

Town water supplies remain safe to drink.

Also the Edward river around Deniliquin. We are changing our week skiing to somewhere else maybe Renmark or Robinvale:( don't want to get :puke:
Sounds like a good idea . There'll be a few towns with a few less visitors on weekends till the water is clean again
