Hi...just went into my van which has been covered since mid January and the solar box was beeping....I plugged in the power cord and it stopped. Is there damage to the batteries?? We can't see that we've left anything turned on and this has never happened before. Thanks...Mel

the fridge could be running,
heck, anything could be running and using the battery power

if your storing it, you should turn off the battery switch

curious

do you have a stereo?
TV?

stuff like that plugged in?

I know my Radio flattened my battery once, as it was in "Standby mode" not OFF
so I disconnected the sodding thing

getting back to your original question

it wont hurt the batteries, but it wont help either
My main concern was the batteries..,we had a Kimberley Kamper once upon a time and battery replacement was huge. I've solved the immediate problem by plugging into 240volt but I have no idea what set off the beeping.

you can only check every power point and switch in the Van to see if anything was left plugged in, and on

lights????????????

The battery will lose charge over time even with everything turned off. The TPS1230 had an under voltage protection circuit and alarm.

Turning in the 240 will recharge the battery and stop the alarm.

If the solar is not in the sun in storage, the battery really needs to be connected to a maintenance charger or the van left connected to 240v to keep the battery topped up.

If it's only been a month since it was last charged, the battery may be on its way out, or something is connected draining it as suggested above

Yep...the recommendation is for a constant charge of some kind...either 240 or solar. It's also recommended that it be checked monthly,

Options?

Constant 240 if possible
Constant solar...this works for us. Van in shed so no solar but extra solar panel hooked up to give charge when needed. It's too expensive to replace these batteries.

Hope the battery is ok....but keep a charge up to it.

Concur with @Bellbirdweb .

If the van is covered, no sun on panels and 240v not near, then you can use just one of those small 2w solar charging panels from Supercheap etc, they are about $30 and if connected to a charged battery will keep it charged for years, I have been using 2 of them for over 5 yrs and they have kept the batteries on various things in good nick.....Use one to keep my old Ute battery topped up when we go away sp it will start when we get back months later.

Luckily my van lives outside and the solar works under the cover, but I have one of those little panels on the JetSki battery as well as on the 2nd battery in the tug (charger on the start battery, as it only gets used occasionally)

Yep it's a battery low voltage alarm, though when we had the Panda the bloody thing went of in the middle of the night while we we're using the van yep asleep didn't know what the hell it was, it was quite loud, couldn't figure out how to stop it funny thing though, we we're on main power, it then off again packing up next morning after I disconnected the power from van, never did find out what caused it, and never happen again, was later told the best thing for Topray controllers was to chuck them in the bin.
Current van has topray hasn't been a problem, though it's mounted in the boot, though when we got thrown into darkness a few weeks ago while away, I discovered the charger had been turned off ,things we're running on 12v but hadn't had enough sun for solar to keep up in this case the alarm was very faint and couldn't be heard.

Can't see much point having it mounted in the boot. At least you can see the current coming in from the panels with it out in full view

Mines in the boot, can't really see a need to be constantly looking at whats happening, besides when it's working I'm outside , I have a small digital volt meter inside to show where the battery is but it's night time when I'm inside the van .
