Hi all
I am confused as to what size tool box I should have on the front draw bar
I was concerned about the length because I didn't want the car to hit the
box on a tight turn or when having to do a tight u turn.
The measurement I had in mind was 1300 long 400 wide and 500 high.
I have an expanda OB so I can't go any higher.Could I go up to 1400 long and be safe.
I havent found any boxes with that size but am ok if I have to get one custom made.
Your help will be much appreciated .
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replys. It seems by looking at the other threads that the tool boxes are more than 1400 long which should be ok? If anybody has more information would love to read it.
To reply to a thread I am in Melbourne

These are the drawings I did for my custom one.

Here's the toolbox

And here's info of where it was custom made, cost etc.

I found out just recently that these guys make all of the boxes for lotus caravans. So they must do black checkerplate too although everything they have on display is silver checkerplate.

I think you should be concerned with length if you do not have an extended draw bar. But all I would do to work out length is hitch the van up and basically jack knife the van to see what you have to work with.

Do they sometimes come from the factory with extended draw bar as our van is an out back

Not normally Big Al ,you normally request when ordering. Unless the dealer asked for a few upgrades to make it easier to sell.

Hi @Big Al here's ours. I didn't get the extended draw bar (big mistake!!) so had to make do with this set up

I am very happy with it though. It does what I need it to do...and that was to carry a generator and chainsaw

Hi @Big Al I have done a test and it doesn't interfere with the turning circle. Even withtthe bikes on behind the cruiser.

However, I only went as far as I was willing to stretch the WDH. I've never had to turn as tight as I did for the test in any caravan park or free camp we have done. When I hook up for our holiday I'll try it again without the WDH and take a pic for you.
