A mate of mine got scammed like this buying a Eagle OB. They asked him to follow a link which was a fake PayPal page and deposit money. He lost $13500, still trying to get it back, but not looking good. Money went to a Malaysian bank account.

Be careful!!!

I advertised my old Jayco Freedom on Trading Post and sold it for $22,000. Removed the ad and 3 days later a guy rang me and asked if I had sold the van advertised on Trading Post and when I said yes he told me to have a look again. I searched for a Jayco Freedom and found my van advertised for $11,000 in Geelong, using the same photos of the van taken outside my house with the description word for word as I had posted so I emailed the TP and the ad was removed within the hour. This guy apparently just troll the ads looking for oddities.

It would not have affected me but some poor sod might have been sucked in. :brick:

I'd want to see it in person & do the normal checks before laying down any money.

But in saying that just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's dodgy, when I was selling my dove it was well below market value just to get rid of it quick for little more than the trade in price, so a family could get a bargain, but I didn't get many enquiries & those I got were "what's wrong with it"

There was a huge, awesome, cheap van on eBay last week for $11k. I was suspicious from the start but asked about it anyway. Their story was that they were in WA for work and that they would freight the van to me from Sydney once eBay confirmed to them that I'd paid. Dodgy. The ad was removed less than five minutes after I used the word "scam" in my response to them!
