So there is always heaps of talk around about Chip's and Performance Modules etc, but have seen recently that there are some companies making throttle controllers that remove the throttle delay when accelerating.

Seems like a good idea and can see the benefits when towing, most of them also have different modes when the settings can be changed to reflect the type of driving you are doing

Windbooster & PlugnGo are a couple around at the moment

What's everyones thoughts on these types of units, anyone got them installed?

Why do car companies put throttle delays in ???
My Pajero you put your foot down at a intersection to get into trafic and it is bloody dangerous for the first few times until you get used to it.
I hate it with a passion >>> If I put my foot down I want to go NOW!!!!!
i miss my V8 :blue:

don't miss the fuel bill though

being electronic @NoWorries the idea is
you put your foot down
electric tells the ECM that you put your foot down
ECM then adjusts the throttle as per how hard / far you put your foot down

hence the rather large delay between your foot moving and then the car moving

sux dogs bollocks, but hey, thats the way they are nowadays

mind you, I'm not sold on the idea of by-passing the setup to gain minimal quicker acceleration

I have one fitted to my triton. Big difference especially when towing.

They are adjustable to suit the conditions and can be switched off too.

granted I am old school...........
want to tow something - get a bigger car

I went straight from a Stomberg carby to diesel 1H
missed the fuel injection wars

my old beastie is a cable to the throttle body, add more air - adds more diesel - go faster..................

none of this "fly by wire" gizmo's...........

simple - straight forward - fuel inefficient (12.5L/100 empty + 14.7L/100 towing)-
but works in the bush, and I can fix it with a cable tie & a milk bottle cap...........
(ok, maybe NOT a milk bottle cap - as I have not seen any for awhile)

back to @burnsie 's post - sorry for side tracking

correction

cable goes to injector pump and gives more diesel
because more diesel is added, more air is sucked through the Turbo & intercooler and into throttle body and the engine

sorry for the miss information earlier..........

A lovely trip down memory lane @bigcol , oh the days when a pair of pliers and a bit of No8 wire got you going again...........I don't like the delay it's a big pain............tramp, waiting, waiting then bang wheel spin and away we go.............like to know how this gizmo works though.
