We have nick named our Expanda - "Expandasitis" - The only cure is using it to spend time as a family exploring this amazing country we are lucky enough to call home.
We got a 17.56.2 Outback with some extras which are
- 1 x 150W Roof mounted solar panels & 30 AMP regulator
- 1 x 100AMP Auxiliary battery kit
- Drifter RV control panel located above bench
- External TV plug & 12V outlet
- CD/AM/FM stereo with internal and external speakers
- 150L Fridge upgrade
- Simplicity Independent Suspension upgrade
- A Frame 300mm extension
- Jockey wheel clamp to inside of A Frame
- External gas bayonet fitted to rear
- Roof mounted air-con
- Wind up TV antenna
- Trigg Coupling
- Kakadu Hard-lid Surrounds
We picked it up on the 27th September and went straight to the Sundowner Caravan Park in Port Macquarie for the first 2 nights in it. We then went away the next weekend which was the long weekend. So in the first 10 days of owning it we camped twice and spent 7 out of the 10 nights in it.
Overall we are very happy with the quality of everything. There are a few little things like excess silicon all over the place (nothing a good clean won't fix) and the RCA cables that were installed for the TV to play through the stereo were plugged into the "wired remote" port on the rear of the CD player.
Another thing is the manual water pump in the kitchen sink dribbles a fair bit when using the outside tap. I am going to install a ball valve to turn the manual pump completely off unless we need to use it.
I already have a list of mods that I want to do when I get the time.
The first mod now that we have it will be a carport for it before the summer season hits and we get hail.
The second mod will be to fix the god awful uncomfortable beds. Our foam mattress in our CT was better!
Another mod will be to put in a third water tank. We just had 5 days away with no power and water. While the battery kept fully charged and the solar worked a treat, we ran out of water on the 4th day. We probably wasted a bit of water washing up all the time so we will be extra careful next time on the usage.
One happy wife during our pickup. The van and the ute site nice and level without any WDH.
Setup on its first night on a non powered site
