So, having now got our 17.56, this is how our camping evolution has gone - sounds like its a common story; whats yours...?

We started with a Kmart tent in our box trailer with added gazebo

Tarp, poles, and other improvements came next, but still in a tent

Then upgraded to 1984 Coleman Viscount camper trailer, fully loaded with hail damage, floating floor (i.e. floated when you walked on it), an awning that took longer to erect than the tent ever did - but got us off the ground and was a great bit of gear. Sold this for what we paid for it a few years later.

Then bought a Fiamma bagged awning and privacy screen for the Coleman - this made a massive difference to setup time (btw both are for sale as they are still in my garage almost unused. Am thinking of possibly fitting the awning over my external shower if I don't sell it...)

And then to the Swan Outback...

.... and finally the Expanda (will add a pic of it setup once we have actually set it up...)

Not quite as comprehensive for me.
Mine evolution was a swag when out with the mates, or a basic 6 man dome tent when the better half wanted to come along.
Next was an eBay camper trailer tent which I fitted to my garden box trailer with a few mods.

This saw over 130 nights use in the last 5 years and got the kids into camping, but the setup and pack up time eventually drove me mad. Plus the fact that neatly every time we packed up, it was either raining, or wet with dew. I hated having to set it up again at home to dry it out.

Bring on the Expanda. Same as you @benrosenick an 2013 17.56 OB.
I LOVE it!

We went from a 3 man tent to a huge triple room canvas thing that took an age to set up, then to an 80s Jaydove that has served us well for the last 5 years, and now the Expanda. Skipped the popular camper trailer step because I thought it would be just as bad as a tent.

At a green age of 18 my first camper was a 1966 VW Kombi spent many nights camped "down south" with the lads on Surfing trips (Translate drinking and partying trips)

Had a little break from campers and went back to the tents and sleeping in the back of the ute for a few years
scan-9-jpg.6788

and then bought another Kombi a newer one this time a 1969 model this one even had a 12v system
Was I really that young once? The X really hated that Kombi (She's the short one)

So back to tents and the back of a few different utes for quite a few years

The Delux!

The KB40 (Chev Luv)
