:behindsofa:Well the time has come, for the crossing over post, for the few astute forum members they picked the hint last week.

The story goes, we have had an 2013 Expanda 17.56-2 for 12 months. It was our first go at a caravan and was a great van, but after 12 months of ownership many weekends away and a few traveling trips we wanted to see what else was around with a better educated brief. Less setup for when travelling late, and starting early. Less beds, and more storage. If we are doing an upgrade, a washing machine and independent suspension in as short as possible.

So we went “For a Look” to the Brisbane Caravan & Camping show to see what was around and for what price. Looked at everything, but they get long for a “Family van”. We looked at the starcraft as part of the assessment. We then came home and thought, did the numbers and pondered what ours would be worth etc. So after some back room discussions with some forum members I listed our van to see what might be. We took a deposit in 2 days and let it go at 7 days. This was a week ago.

So today, after much discussion, modifications and up specing we have signed off for a new van.

This is where the “crossing over” comes in. We have left the Jayco family for an alternate make. We are going with an On The Move Caravan, built in full off-road spec. With bunks in the rear, island bed, separate toilet / shower with washing machine all in a 20’6 length.

So I guess in the footsteps of @Stone Stomper we are going to the other side, but asking for forgiveness that we can still contribute to the Expandasdownunder forum family. As a forum member said to me, as the forum grows it is inevitable that people will go away from the Jayco brand, but it would be a shame to lose the experience of their travels. I think this was a very valid statement. So on the back of this, i suggest to @expanda of the possibility of an “other” make section to the site?

So we have a 3 month wait, this was our choosing as we will line up with another planned trip (we will now head to Melbourne first to collect the van). In the meantime, I will be peaking over the fence, and watching on.

For those on the forum, that helped with questions I asked out of the blue. I thank you all for the honestly and your willingness to help. For this single reason alone, it is a perfect reason to remain part of the down under forum.

Well said @TTBRIDGE
You obviously took council from some very wise forum members!

I was going to second your motion for a new forum section, but the Grand Poo-Bar himself has (as usual) taken quick action to look after his congregation. Thanks @expanda

Cant wait to see some pics of the van. Having just ordered a 22ft Starcraft I'm keen to see how you can fit all of those specs into the 20'6 length.

Congrats @TTBRIDGE , of course you will be accepted with another brand of van, we may just have to type slower for you!:boink:

Seriously though, you have made some excellent points and this forum is a growing family and that means we need to be accepting of change, unless you buy a Nissan, then all bets are off:beaten:

Again joking!!:banplease:

Great post TTBridge.
We have also sold our Panda, the kids are now teenagers and unless we are near the beach are not really interested.
We kicked tyres at the Brisbane show and walked away more confused than when we walked in.
We have decided to stay with Jayco and are now in the market for either a 19 foot sterling OB or a 19 foot Starcraft.
Like you, we sold the panda in less than two weeks and we're very happy with the price.
Hoping to have the new van before Cameron's Corner!!!

My fiend recently sold his On the Move infinity, they are a very nice van. I would have bought it in a flash but it didn't have room for our kids;). Your 3 month wait is pretty quick really so you will be picking it up in the better weather down here. Well done.
