That's awesome! Maybe that will be the next greatest craze...... Thank goodness it's another license level otherwise there would be crashes everywhere with first timers having a go!

I have had several thoughts of this in the past, but never thought it to be legal. But then towing capacity of an 17/56 OB & a 2 tonne boat is probably going to be a sticking point.

Now he should sell the concept given he has done all the home work.

My heavy combination truck licence that I got when I was in the Army might be handy after all!!!

How could you possibly reverse a rig like this? I'm tying to visualise. Say you need the boat the turn to the right (drivers side) . The van would need to push the boat draw bar to the left. To enable this, the van drawbar needs to be pushed to the right, which is a right arm down movement. Ok, but now the boat and van are going different directions. I can't see how you can avoid a jack-knife....would a left arm down then straighten the rig up????

They do it in South Africa all the time. Generally it's a small Venter (its a brand) box type trailer. When they arrive at the CP they just stop take the trailer off and reverse in the van then sort the trailer out.

Anyhow I like this better: http://boatavan.com.au/

I have looked at those... they are expensive!! and need a couple of little tweaks, but a great concept!!

A B-Double driver once told me that where ever you want the rear trailer to be is where you put the cab, if that makes sence.

Sitting outside of Bourke last year, I watch as a truckie was attempting to reverse trailer plus dolly under another 2 trailers to hitch up as a road train, 15 minutes later.

Only in America. :biggrin-new:

Well! almost it wasn't that long ago I followed a similar setup up the Hume just north of Goulburn though wasn't that flash.

was a large Winnebago towing double deck car trailer, on top was a tinnie complete with its own trailer on bottom a Suzuki Vitara.
