Just a quick post to say Happy Easter and a reminder to all our members to take care over the Easter break and stay safe on the roads, these photos were posted on one of the local Perth 4x4 Facebook sites I follow, a timely reminder of how things can go pear shaped, I don't know any details of the Accident if I find out more I will update

Not a great start to Easter for this family...

I was woken by the pager at 5am on Good Friday and we attended a vehicle fire on the Calder Fwy just outside of Kyneton.

Family of 4 safe and they managed to get the boat trailer off the back of the vehicle before we got there, however, the vehicle was fully involved when we arrived and all their camping gear, clothing, fridge, motor cycle and vehicle were totally lost.

One of the teenagers heard a "pop", looked out the left side of the vehicle and saw the tarpaulin covering their gear was on fire. Based on his description, the fire may have started in one of the dual batteries just at the left rear of the dual cab.

Yes, there is a vehicle in amongst the smoke & steam!

Definitely drive safely everyone.

I am always impressed by the care and thoughtfulness of members on this forum and am sure that everyone does the right thing with properly preparing their van and tug (obvious by the posts here) and by the information given by members on driving tips and road conditions. All this helps us to be better road users.

Just remember that not every driver is as careful and considerate, watch out for the idiots and have a great holiday

And from us.

We had to take cars in for service today and ended up on the Bruce Highway (or car park) late in the day. I don't envy anyone towing in those conditions, or arriving late and having to set up in the dark.

We'll spend the weekend getting ready to go away again so, thankfully, off the roads.

But take care and try to avoid the idiots.

Just finished night shift won't be going any where at Easter staying home to work in the garden after the dog has done some natural selection of plants he didn't like. For those going away take care there are idiots everywhere, filling up fuel and boy racers cutiing the corner speeding through the servo almost smashed into a car

Driving up Indian Ocean Drive from Perth to Cervantes on Friday. Sitting on 95 pulling the panda up a hill. Near the crest it was an unsighted bend. And some muppet overtook me. Double while lines, up a hill on a bend!
Driving a old jacked up GQ patrol with all the 4wd accessories hanging off it. He would of killed people in a head on.
Then 1 hour later, there was a fatal head on on this road.
A great reminder for me that safety comes above all else when towing.
