Hi All,

Most of you would remember the pic of the switch covers that Jim posted up a while ago in another thread. After seeing this and thinking what a great idea as it saves the hastle of moving switches which are down low and can be bumped off by accident. I plan to get some made for our van at a perspex/sign business near me at work, I have contacted Jim in regards to get extra made for members (didn't want to steal his great idea) and all is good.

One mod I was thinking of was to have a hole in the centre so instead of sliding your finger in from the side you just put your finger in the hole from the front and switch on/off, that way you can have 3 covers in a row and can still access middle switch. This is not a money making venture but I thought just a way of making them cheaper as the more ordered the cheaper they become. So if anyone is interested let me know and how many so I can get quote, then I'll know how much each including postage which I would assume would be the same for 1 or 10 off.

Here is a pic to refresh your memory and for the latest members.

Cheers.

I'm very keen, and have been thinking of getting the same made up for my van. I'm not sure a couple of standard single switch units will work for me as my switches are all close together. I was thinking I might have to get one big one made up.

No worries mate. I was thinking we could get double ones as well. Any ideas or feedback welcome!

Cheers.

Burnsy - I would love to get the purspex ones to cover the battery and hot water switches, but they have also put the control panel right up against the switches :mmph:

As the pump switch keeps getting kicked and I did order it to be placed on the side of the sink, I will be moving it at some stage.

Hi Ro, would the control panel stop you from covering the switches?

Cheers.

Burnsy - As the Control Panel is right up against the switches at present, there is no room for the perspex cover to go over the end of the switches. Can put them on once I move the Control Panel.

Hi Ro can you post a pic? My switchs are near the control panel and the covers Burnsy is suggesting work well. Also the advantage of Burnsy's perpex covers over the solid one is at a glance you can still ascertain the switch setting.

Burnsy great idea with the hole. I might be up for a large one to cover the water tank gauge/switch.

My solution

I accidentally clipped my control panel today with my heal and bent the corner a little. First thing I did was curse Jayco for putting it there, second was to try to think of a cover that I could put on without too much trouble as a temporoary measure.
This is what I came up with:
IMAG0023.jpgIMAG0024.jpg

The box is actually from Bunnings and was full of different sizes of heat shrink.
I just cut the back out of it and tucked it behind the switches to hold it in place. Solid as a rock.

We'll see if it is only temporary but at this stage I think it might be there a while.

Good solution...
but for the life of me can't understand why they would mount them there in the first place, other than as a cost cutting measure!!!

Bit dumb if you ask me..

Great job young turtle, what elective did he do for this?
I will post prices up soon as per quote on the switch covers for those who were interested, just been a bit preoccupied! The quote is for a CNC machine to do, so all will be identical but maybe a bit pricey. As it turns out I have control panel and hot water switch in overhead cupboard with circuit breakers.....maybe Jayco are starting to see the light!

Cheers.
