Hi All
Taking the van to Pt Pirie for Christmas (to see in laws), probably go Via Cobar, Broken Hill. Is there anything worth seeing along the way, we usually drive to Cobar the 1st day and off to Pirie the 2nd day without the van. Looking at 4 to 5 days each way, will probably come back the same way its a lot easier I think. Looking for decent caravan parks, some camp spots etc and something to see.
Cheers
Dave

At Cobar the Visitors info Centre has a great museum and mine display. Just outside Cobar the big open cut mine. I thing there is only one CP in Cobar. We were in Broken Hill early this year stayed 1 week at the Top Tourist CP. A trip To Silverton including the pub and local museum, the Miners Memorial, Pro Hart Gallery, Bushy Whites gallery and mine museum, the rock sculptures just outside BH at sunset, Flying Doctor museum. And more.

Also worth spending a night at Hanckocks lookout, just off the Willmington to Port Augusta Road, watching the sunset over the gulf from up there is great.

We have just about decided, sunny coast to Pirie, easy via Broken Hill.

Coming home back to Broken Hill, Wilcannia, White Cliffs, Bourke, Cunnamulla, St George, Dalby then home via Nanango?? 7 - 8 days to get home, it will be hot, very hot, planning on leaving Pirie on Saturday 28th Dec and arrive home either 7th or 8th January. Anyone have any comments please, tell me straight if you think I am mad doing this at that time of year also.
Cheers
Dave

Sure, it will be hot but you are on holidays. With pools at caravan parks and creeks and rivers when free camping you will have a ball.

Have a great trip @DRW.
