Hi all, been researching van parks for the sunshine coast area and came across Maroochy Palms.

Has anyone stayed there? I am perplexed they have a no bikes policy.

Yes I am serious "No bikes" now I ride a little but the kids go to van bikes to ride there bikes so I am wondering if anyone has stayed there and if this rule is strictly adhered to?

Also does anyone else have recommendations for the Sunshine Coast area?

Cheers all!

I am at Cotton tree caravan park at the moment and I know that they dropped the pushbike rule about 2 years ago.
Cotton tree is a bit crowded at the moment but is a nice spot. Maroochy river on one side and the surf is just a quick walk over the dunes on the other. The major shopping centre is in walking distance and at the moment the weather is beautiful.

There's also the big 4 at forest glen if you're happy to be 10 mins from the beach.

Friends are going to treasure island at the Gold Coast and there's a no bike rule there ( not sure if its just peak periods)

I stayed at Big4 Forest Glen back in 07, lets just say would never stay there again small sites (powered) uneven broken concrete or tar, access to sites very narrow. amenities absolutley filthy

My family and I have stayed at Sea Breeze Caravan park for the last 4 years. We loved it. Close to everything, neat park, close to the beach. Cotton Tree is just down the road and always looks like a perfect spot if you have little kids. The swimming is much better than the rough surf beach.

There are quite a few on the coast, Cotton Tree, Coolum or the Wilderness Park on Noosa Northshore are my pick.
Drop the last one if you need a powered site. Not sure on the bike rules, is it just at xmas?

Morning all
We have stayed at Maroochy Palms, great park for the kids. Yes they are strict about the rules. The park has the river across the road which is great for fishing and you are not to far from the shops for supplies. There is a bike track that runs along the river that would be a joy to ride on.

We have also stayed at the new big4 at Caloundra. Very handy to everything. You can ride bikes there. Both parks are great to stay at.

We have experienced the 'no bike policy' at a few parks recently they claim it's a liability reason, strange when its a council owned park

Hi expanda

We are currently at maroochy palms big 4 and have been coming here for the past 6 years. The bike, scooter etc rule is strictly enforced. However, outside the park entry you have a great boat entry point and a pathway for bike riding, fishing and walking right along the river.

We highly recommend this park.

We are booked in for our first trip in our expanda at the Coolum Beach Holiday park for the Australia day long weekend,it's a little bit further up the coast from caloundra so shouldn't be as much hustle and bustle.
