Sullage adapter tips and tricks

Well after leaving my sullage adapter behind in Wee Jasper I went and grabbed a replacement and was wondering if there is an easier way to fit these things? The original was a little stretched, unlike the new one, but still wasn't the easiest thing to get on. Was thinking a silicone lube may make it easier but open to suggestions.

Boil some water and put the hose in to soften it and the end should slip in.

Get some plastic cam lock fittings, go berserk two on the adaptor and on the hose, easiest thing in he world to use. I like what stone stomper did and did away with the adaptor but I can't seem to work out an easy way to do that on his Expanda.
