Hi
we all got to work yesterday and found a corner of the fence cut down and a van missing.
after watching security tape (a camera was pointing at that area.) we watched a bloke turn up at 5am monday morning, spend a hour cutting the fence and then drive in with a late model ford ranger with a tray and grab a van near the fence hole.

I couldn't believe he was that game as we could see traffic going up and down the road behind him. and it was getting light by the time he left.

He pinched a second hand sterling, that was sold and deposit paid for, so i guess the good thing is he didn't get a customers van, because thats where we park them in that area.

so be careful where you leave your van, if it's near a road make sure you have a lock on it.

How common is it from a dealer @DaveS ?

I see Bayswater Jayco here in Vic had a 17 Expanda taken, its on their web site. I'm not sure how long ago though I just saw it last week.

I assume Ranger stolen also.
Was a worry when we looking secondhand does not seem hard to rebirth caravans.
Vicroads wanted the VIN number on the drawbar I said the van I was looking at did not have that. They said stamp it yourself :)

My mate from work had his hawk or eagle stolen from Ballarat Jayco about 7 or 8 years ago while it was in getting serviced. They have spent thousands of dollars on security with cameras, bollards and motion detectors such a shame they have to spend money to keep the scum away.

Does anyone know of a 'Stolen Van' website? If not then would be good to have one in this forum, where people can add the details of stolen caravans. Although it would only be useful if the production number (last digits of the vin) is welded on the drawbar - like Jayco do! When buying secondhand, I always check the vin plate to ensure it looks like the original one.

I reckon a GPS tracker would be good, easy to hide it and get the van back super quick, after you break his kneecaps :)

www.goseeaustralia.com.au has a stolen register sadly they have a fairly long list of stolen vans.
