Okay I work from home and have done for a few years, I didn't realise this weekend was a long weekend (but I found out through this very forum) not complaining (yet) but we don't have a lot of time off this year for caravaning because we are going to spend time in Europe (I know 1st world problem). We live on the Sunshine Coast (Australia's wonderland) and every day is a holiday (yep I get it) the weather is sensational, currently, we are sooking because it will get to single figures tonight and only low 20's tomorrow!!
As I don't have a lot of human interaction anymore due to working from home, and feeling house bound we thought lets go down the coast (10K at best) for the weekend, realising we may have left it a bit late I started searching, decided on Mudjimba caravan park, thought I would take the beach rod and get into the winter whiting, or seaweed. So first thing this morning I rang the park and ended up speaking to an answering machine (even I have a portable phone) at roughly 9:00AM, just before 5:00PM I decided to call again to see if the office was attended yet, and it was, so I enquired about a site for the weekend and was informed YES we do have a few left, this is where it turned pear shaped, I said is it okay if I bring my buddy (an 8 year old cockatie?), sorry the pet section is booked out we can't help you and ubruptly ended the conversation. So I began ringing around every park I could find, same answer (except for the few pet friendly parks who were fully booked) I could book her into the kennels for the weekend (at $50 per day) but I thought stuff that, its a small bird, she sits on my lap all day and has done all her life, she came to Townsville with us when we picked the last van up, has been to local parks with us on several occasions without any problems, am I over reacting, or has the worls gone completely mad on the pet thing? Don't get me wrong she is a 1st class pain in the arse wanting attention all bloody day, but, a weekend in a park? Rant over :behindsofa:

Yep, worlds gone mad!!! She's a cockatiel in a cage for goodness sake, what do they think she is going to do, squalk all night? If she is anything like our old girl used to be in winter, she's ready for her cage, cover and bed by 5pm. Take her, they will never know.

I haven't seen any problems with this at Cotton Tree. But maybe people don't ask and just bring the bird.

Cotton Tree is fine with her, same park owners (sunshine coast council) different managers, Cotton Tree, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore Beach all booked out, oh well the veggie garden needs attention anyway

Tom tits !!!! Nice. My dad has said that all my life and you rarely hear it now days. My bestie is a budgie, so I feel your pain. Im also with you with the public holiday thing ... being self employed its mostly annoying, but a good opportunity to get some work done without travellers pestering me etc.

thanks guys, its not really a big deal, I just think this political corectness BS has gone way too far, yeah I could leave her at home its only just up the road, but, its a friggin bird in a cage and as @Wanda says she is in bed by 5PM at the latest not a Rottweiler for gods sake (and yes I actually love Rotties as well but dont have a dog at present for the first time in over 50 years) and @Crusty181 apparently I swear too much, that's where the Tom Tits came from, my Dad must have sworn too much as well lol
