Oz Pig. I've seen them at the shows etc. look good, but I have trouble forking out for a modified expired gas bottle... I have this illness where if it's something I can make myself, I can't bring myself to pay for it... Makes my list of things to do bloody long :(

Ok so another aspect is how long it takes to set up/ pack up?

Ahh... fire barrels... something close to my heart. I've got a few half drums around the house, as well as a pot belly in the shed. Even have a rusted brazier thing from Bunnings we bought once out of desperation on the way to camp somewhere. But, where possible... we fire up The Tekno Barrel....

Set up/pack up is very fast. 2 minutes. Just screw 4 legs on and fit chimney.
I thought of making my own for 30 seconds but for me i would rather save the time and prototypes and get one with the bugs already worked out. However, there have been some rippers made on this forum

I think the weight is a positive aspect in the way it should last longer and not made of tissue paper rather than burn a hole through it on the 1st night :flame:

I see your point though mate :yo:

I just used a old pressure pump tank cut in half with SS u-bolts as legs and fill with heat beads works a treat. Generally around 5 hrs per bag of beads and no smoke once going. I've also cooked a camp oven in this again using heat beads.
