Sitting at home Monday when wife and I decided it was time for a break away. Packed up the van and within a few hours were on the road heading north to one of our favourite spots - Scotts Head. Four hours drive north of Newcastle even with all the ongoing roadworks. Temp in the mid 30s on the drive up and then the big change came through. Struggled to get into 20's the past couple of days. Despite the cool weather, enjoying the beach and plenty of whale watching.

The Scotts Head caravan park is being upgraded. There are a number of new powered sites just being finished off together with a new amenities block and camp kitchen. There is a new entrance (which I totally missed the sign for), a new office building and upgraded Wi-Fi. Still some construction working ongoing at the surf club end of the park. Staying here through to Sunday so fingers crossed the sun will be back.

I can confirm that it is tick season on the mid north coast of NSW. Found four ticks on one of our small dogs. Fortunately got them early but headed off to Coffs Harbour to pick up some tick treatment. The pet store just happened to be across from the local Jayco dealer so naturally had to go in for a look around. My wife found a Jayco Sterling that she was very impressed with. This could prove to be an expensive holiday. Anyway, I do have a couple of pics as proof of holiday :)

On the way back from Coffs, we decided to follow tourist route 16 from Urunga (just over the bridge) back to the highway via Hungry Head. What a beautiful hidden gem. A couple of beaches with easy access (not dog friendly unfortunately) and a North Coast Holidays Park that has cabins available but didn't appear to have van sites.
