Hi Greggels,
We bought a dish and tripod with decoder also a electronic satellite finder from Solar N Sat Hervey Bay. Works a treat. Cost was up there but.....
eBay is always going to have cheaper options.
Reception is uninterrupted. The old Wineguard is a shocker compared to it.
Cheers Deano

Hey Grant
The vast system seems to be pretty good. Are you using the travellers registration where you re register every six months? The receiver also seems to be 240v only so i guess you will be running on an inverter while off grid, any idea what the current draw is while on 12v.

I have heard if you have foxtel with a Satelite dish on the roof at home that you can take the receiver box away with you and still get foxtel. Anyone heard that before?

Bush Palace I agree its a great country with heaps to see, but after the 8hours seeing it in the daylight I need to occupy the 18mth old and 3yr old so I can enjoy my beer :)
I went with this guy from Ebay last month after speaking to several. Really helpful for a beginner and the system was so good and easy I haven't called him since. This is a VAST system, not sure about any others.
Boots33 - Im using the 6months travelling registration, no issue with registering and only had it a month so not sure about re-registering. I know you can buy the VAST receiver with a 12v mod too
This is the kit I got, recommend you get a good tripod as it assist with very minute adjustments required. THe digitial receiver tester thing is good too - (very technical terminology)

Hi Boots The guy at iTech world here in WA told me "Yeah you just re-register every 6 months" but Ive only had it a couple of Months now, I think on the Vast site it says to make sure you re register before the 6 months is up and yes I have an inverter (150w) but need an upgrade, the TV and Vast box both say 0.3 amps at 240v not sure if it calculates the same when running through an inverter but I make it 144 Watt total, with the last try the inverter shut down after about ten minutes so I thought it may have been pushing it a bit close to its limit but in saying that I just read that the fact that the cables I have it connected to the battery with are not really up to the Job so I am going to rewire with the bit of 6 B&S twin I had bought for the Anderson Plug setup, to a 300w inverter and see how that goes,
Cheers Grant
