hi all, we are in halls gap and heading off to port fairy in a couple of days. Brother and I discussing routes. I have a 1756-2 and he is towing a big royal flair.

The most direct route is through dunkeld to pens hurst and straight down to port fairy, wondering what that road is like for towing and traffic? Is the route through Hamilton any better?

Where are you staying? We (me, my wife, son and daughter-in-law, and g'daughter) are at Lakeside CP. Having fun, though a bit wet!

Hi Hiluxpanda. As pace says, that route thru Dunkeld is fine. Quite a few vans use that route but the traffic was quite light last time I was down that direction. Enjoy the scenery on the way.

Hey Bill we are also in lakeside CP. We are up the top near the pool In our 17-56.2 touring. My brother is next door in a Royal Flair. we are here tomorrow and one more night before heading off Monday. I think is aw your setup down past the playground! Looked like a nice rig there!!

If your up this end pop your head in for a sherbet!

the road from South Grampians to Hamilton is average (but better than South Grampians to Ballarat in the other direction). Certainly driveable, but potholed, rough edges, narrow in spots, bumpy etc etc. Straight down the C178 through Penhurst is the best.
