Hi All, Firstly apologies if this is posted in the wrong section. We did our first trip away in our 2012 15.56.2 on the weekend and discovered everything works as it should apart from the heater (the family weren't too impressed as we found out the hard way on 4 degree night). It is a Sparrow rooftop job and it seems to work on cool, fan and dry but when I switch it to heat I can hear it running but the fan won't come on. has anyone had a similar problem or can offer a bit of advice before I head into a service place? Also, if it does need a repairer should I be taking it in to Jayco or just a caravan repairer?? ie Ken Peachey or PDA repairs
Cheers. Mitch

I am not sure about the sparrow as we have a Coleman but I know the rooftop units in general are not wonderful at heating and once it gets properly cold they are useless. Having said that if you tried it in the evening (before it got down to 4) and it didn't work then there certainly could be something wrong with it. Ours works well and reliably down to a 10 degree night but below that things get iffy.

On that note I have got it in for a service and am putting a diesel heater in it at the same time. Yes I may be soft but I will be warm so I am not too worried about how sooky I look:israel:...... What I mean to say is I have done it for swmbo and I don't really need it...........:biggrin-26:

I think @Sammy D is on the money. Try what he says and in the meantime, a $20 blow heater is your best bet. We use one even though our Ibis AirCon unit works to sub zero temperatures.

Our Ibis gives up at around the zero mark. The $20 ceramic heater works well to keep the van warm - even at 5 below (a few weeks ago at Kosciuszko). But now looking at a diesel heater as I am sick of tripping over the ceramic heater.
