Problem with hot water service - HELP

So we have a Jayco Discovery with a Suburban hot water service (the electric/gas one) that was standard in our 2011 model. The electric part works fine but when on gas there's a problem. So what happens is that after a few weeks of sitting without use, it will fire up and and heat the water fine. Then, turn it off and try to turn it on again in the morning and it won't fire up. Sometimes it might fire and burn for a little bit but then it will stop and try to re-light and then it won't re-light at all. very frustrating.

But on the weekend, I went away and tried to heat it after it had sat idle for a week and it fired up and burned for about a minute and then went out and wouldn't re-light.

So - for the obvious questions - yes, we have gas, the fridge is normally on gas in these situations, yes there is good flow, the fridge stays lit and the hot plates will light if i try. I have tried it on both settings (using the switch that is on the unit). Priming it doesn't have any effect at all.

Please help me - any ideas as to what is wrong or what to try?

Or, alternatively, is there a plumber/gas fitter around the Sale/Traralgon/ Warragul area (we live in Thorpdale)that would be prepared to have a look for me for the standard Aussie fee - a slab?

Cheers all!

I just phoned Coast to Coast and they sent a new one but that was a couple of years back, I have no idea what the current situation is. :noidea:

Thanks Turtle. So was there a recall or how did you get a different flue?
No recall that I can recall;)
I too dealt directly with coast to coast and they sent me a new one no problems (this was back in 2011).
Just let them know you found out about it on this forum. I'm sure they will replace it and if you have any resistance just remind them of the power of social media.
