Hi all,
Just thought I'd share this recall notice.
Our's is a 2007 120 series Prado with a genuine towing assembly.
I currently use a Hayman Reece WDH.
I've spoken with the dealer and confirmed the following,
1) They are going to fit a new towing assembly.
2) They are issuing me with a new genuine WDH
3) They wanted to exchange the non genuine WDH although when I explained I used it on multiple vehicles they have agreed that all they need to do is sight it.
4) All this is free of charge
Does anyone know the real story behind this?
Sorry about the quality of the attachement!

Got our recall notice yesterday. Ours is a 2009 model. I believe that the towbar bolts loosen over time with the use of a WDH. Bad design if you ask me. Imagine what would happen if your whole towbar comes astray when towing your van very scary thought. We dont use a Wdh as I have air bags in the rear.

Got my 2006 prado grande done the other day. They didnt replace the towbar receiver (genuine) but did replace the bolts that hold to the chassis. Like you I wanted to keep my hayman reese wdh so they let me and gave me the genuine toyota one. Cant say im overly wraped in the toyota version as it looks light and flimsy compared to the hr wdh.

My father in law has a 2009 Prado fitted with a HR tow bar. Can anyone confirm if it just the Genuine Toyota tow bars affected by this recall, or is it any towbar?

Well......I had the Prado serviced and inspected for the recall and it was determined that my tow bar required replacing and this was done immediately.
My problem is, now that they've replaced the tow bar, they do not recommend the use of a non genuine wdh which would have been ok if they had been able to supply me with a genuine one as this is part of the recall as well.
As it turns out.........the genuine wdh's are out of stock and will be unavailable until March! Can you see my problem here?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the HR and genuine Toyota? Can anyone send me a photo?

Here you go Turtle. Pic of genuine toyota wdh. The biggest problem with these is the ball height is not adjustable which is going to create some issues. In my opinion the haymen reese wdh is far better.

Thanks Prado,
So the only way to set these ones up would be to use hight adjusting blocks on the caravan coupling and then the caravan becomes specifly suited to one vehicle? I'm in no hurry to do that!
