Just fitted a new 6" pole holder to the A-frame on the van. The original 4" pole holder which I moved to the rear of the van has a hasp and staple fitted that can be locked with a small padlock. Interested in general consensus of readers whether its worth making the new holder lockable. Probably will use to hold annex poles and awning supports.

If concerned about security of the poles etc stored in it I would say yes and padlock it.....
If not concerned about security of the poles etc stored in it I still say yes but just hook a clip of some sort in it to stop it from undoing and losing stuff while traveling!

I'm a security freak, I can't sleep at night unless everything is secure. I find myself listening to every noise and tossing and turning all night and if we have to be away from the van I'll stress over it even more, unless I know everything is in it's place and locked up. Drives Mr. W crazy  If it was me I would definitely need it locked. Peace of mind.

Good point @dagree about stopping the cap from undoing. Plus it gives the option to lock it if I feel its necessary. Now on the list of jobs to do.

If I was going to steal something from a caravan, it wouldn'tbe poles. I would be looking at something more expensive and if the pole carrier is locked they could do more damage trying to break into it to see what is in the pole carrier I agree put a clip to stop it coming undone this is what we have done to our pole carrier

I totally agree with this, Padlocks unfortunately keep the honest thief at bay in this day and age and not the lowlifes that really want what's inside. Battery angle grinders are a god send in my trade but have sadly rendered padlocks pretty much useless. I always asses the risk based on insurance excess, the time it would take me to repair the damage and cost of what I'm securing.

Cheers Max,

My old set just had a hasp and staple fitted with a pin or lock mainly to stop it coming undone the new set up on Big Mal hasn't yet but I need to as a mate lost a anti flap bar and you can't get parts for them have to buy a whole set, big dollars........so some way of securing is needed and at least slow the bastards down.
