Gold Coast Hinterland
G'day Aajb. We did that trip last year from August to end of October, can thoroughly recommend it. Gold Coast to Pt Germein SA is of no interest to you but from there we went across the Nullarbor to Kalgoorlie, up the middle to Karajini NP then on to Pt Hedland then down the coast ducking inland periodically. We bypassed Perth and went down to Albany, up the coast through Margaret River to Perth then out to Hayden and Wave Rock. From there south again to Esperence finally heading back across the Nullabor again and home.

Do you have any ideas where you want to visit? There are so many wonderful places to visit, places like Karajini NP, Kalgoorlie superpit and museum, Tom Price mining tour, Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, Pinnacles, the list goes on. The wildflowers are out at that time and make for spectacular photography if you are interested in that. The only downside we found is that it is windy nearly all the time. But we would go back again.

I reckon whatever route you plan you can't go wrong. We went in Sept 2010 and loved it.
Melb, across Nulla, down to Esperance, then generally following the coast around up to Monkey Mia, back down and inland to Mulleawa, York, Wave rock, Kalgoolie and back on the Nulla to Melbourne. We had 31 days to do that, still saw heaps, but soooooo much more to see and do. Just a taste.....
Figure out what you really want to do and plan around that. The missus wanted to 'do the wildflowers', kids Monkey Mia, me Kimberley etc and we just worked out what else we could fit in. Obviously I didn't get my wish and get to go the Kimberley (but I'm not bitter :mmph::mad2:) - the distances are vast so you have to be realistic as to what is important, and of course what the little tackers can handle.

Take a troll through the trip reports, especially Aremacs 1/2 lap and PMKs xmas trip

Hi AAJB
I live in WA and have worked around the state a lot, my advice November up North very hot! Depending how North you want to go but I would go North in September and work my way down.

Have to agree with Jennymay on this one. I live in Karratha and we just got back from Millstream National Park for the weekend and it was 44C and 45C both days. So I would definitely come north first and follow the coast down.
