Hi all
three months ago we adopted a rescue dog. Our boy is a 3 year old Maltese x Shih Tsu and we consider him part of the family. Parks we have previously stayed at do not allow pets in peak times (our main time of travel due to school holidays). We don't have family nearby that could take care off him, and are unsure about kennels.
I am just wondering what other dog/pet owners do when you go on holidays in the van,
cheers
Kim

Our Jackweiler (Jack russell that thinks he's a Rottweiler) is staying with Nan & Pop this holidays as we are staying in a national park, ordinarily we would try and stay where we can take him but unfortunately it is not always possible

Haha, Our dog also thinks he is crossed with a Rottweiler. He loves people but barks at any other dog.

When we can't take our young Kelpie she either stays at home if its an overnighter or if its a longer trip interstate etc she goes to a kennel. We have had no problems with her there.

Just go check out a few to see which ones you feel comfortable with or maybe ask around to see who other people use 078.jpg

It can be a hassle but I'd never be without a dog. We always try to go to pet friendly parks and if not my parents come over and feed him. Personally I can't see why caravan parks don't provide for both, pet friendly sites and no pet sites....win win I recon! Kim do you have reliable neighbours you could ask?

He must be the other half to my old Rottie. She thought she was a Jack Russell!

Weekenders we take our 4 legged ferral with us we have a few pet friendly places we frequent some of those are also only outside of peak, always on the lookout for others, On our bigger trips were we dont take her she goes back to the lady we got her from were we know she'll be looked after and live in the house with her and not locked away in a caged somewhere.

You'll find it's generally coastal parks that have restrictions for peak periods, inland parks are more pet flexible, if using park guide books, always ring and ask even if the guide states "No Pets" as the ones that say "No Pets" quite offen do allow them
they just do it that so they can put restrictions in place when it suits them.

I have heard of some parks that offer pet minding in daylight hours, if you need to go somwhere and can't take the pooch with you.
Local boarding kennels can also be used as doggy day care if you need too

Thanks bigman0510 and 17triton she is a fast learner. She was from a Mansfield and didn't work out as working dog, which was our gain :)

We also have a male Kelpie who is 16 years old and we have had him for over 15 years, he was a stray. He is one awesome dog yet a bit slower these days and very clever, still is ;)
