Not wanting to take our old mate @17triton thunder, thought I'd post this of a similar take on the MattsPig.

A couple of pics of the build in progress!

Don't know why that photo doubled up, but my phone is giving me hell. Might be time to give in to social conformities and buy an iPhone :(

Anyway, as I said on the mattspig post, this one is for my old mans 50th at the end of the month.

I've ordered the flue from my mate at the local exhaust shop, and need to cut press and weld in the hotplate, and add legs but we're getting there!

Sorry about the picture quality; Motorola can be thanked ;)

I think in my shed somewhere lays an old stainless 60L fire suppression tank. This may become my very own pig!

Oooooh by the way!

If on Facebook, look up: dales freehand firepits.

I think he's in broken hill but WOW I want one. Un-bloody-real.

No affiliation or anything, I just love 'em!

I just didnt want to overtake the thread on ya mate, so i thought i'd post here. Its still got me buggered why the pics come out so badly though, they're terrible!

And yea @Brad he does an unreal job. I love them. Originally i was going to get dad one with the RAAF emblem on one side and the army rising sun on the other as he served in both for over 20 years. But then i decided it was the thought that counts and i'd build him one of my own ;)

Locking bolt - keeps all plates together for transport, or individual plates in place to stop things rolling away. The top two nuts are 16mm with the thread die-ground out, so the bolt threads into the bottom one only.

The plates look very impressive mate, and the legs just need narrowing a tad I recon. The beauty of working with steel. I will show you my new legs when I get home later in the week. They are stainless with screw in sockets.

I thought you might like them as they aren't to obtrusive when the legs are removed and if you have to you can lift the pig without the legs falling out which is what mine is like at the moment.

Yeah mine does that too, one fell out and hit me fair on the toenail the other day. Made me swear!

Those are solid bar so very heavy which is no good.. i might try make something like you have there. the sockets i have welded on are threaded hydraulic 3/4NPT so it should be easy enough to make screw in legs.. my problem at the moment is i have this vision of curved legs that simply roll underneath itself when packed up, and roll out when in use, if that makes sense? I wonder if i can roll 25mm rhs?

Kinda like a scythe shape.. or spiders legs.:spider:. hmm i hope it makes sense. I'll have to try!
