Over night stop

Traveling from Melb to Port Stephens NSW at Christmas so was wondering if anyone has done similar trip and could recommend a park to stop at for a night.
We were thinking Goulburn might be a good stop. Would like to run through but the kids won't make it.

Try Wiki Camps at the app store on ya IPhone and it's for free too, I have used this a few times now for free camping spots and so far so good.

I might be wrong, but just be weary of a caravan park at Goulburn. You might find some of the other patrons are visiting their friends or have just got out from the other major accommodation centre there...Supermax.

Also steer clear of Bargo caravan park.

If self contained there's a nice but small free camp north end of the main street in Gunning. Push on to Moss Vale CP or Mittagong or Camden

Gambells Rest Campground at Bundanoon would be a nice place to stop. Not too far off the highway, but you may be tempted to stay longer than a night.

The stop at gunning would be my pick, although I haven't seen the one at bundanoon. There's a smattering of people at gunning stopping over night all the time, so must be pretty well liked.

Checked out Gunning and looks the goods. If it was up to me it would be a truck stop but its not, ha. Thanks again for the help guys it was all very helpful. Loving this forum everyone just wants to help. Cheers

Thanks bushman and Moxley, we stopped over at Gunning for an over nighter it was fine. Just of the highway so straight back into it first thing. I was chatting with a couple that have gone there for years and he was saying that they are thinking of closing it or start charging $10 a night.
