Hi

We just ordered our 5th Jayco yesterday. The other 4 have been rehomed. We have ordered the 17.56.1 OB with....
  • A Frame Increase
  • Bike Rack
  • Extra Water Tank
  • Privacy Screens
  • Control Panel
  • Batter
  • Solar
  • Roof Air
  • 150ltr fridge
  • DVD/CD/MP3 player and speakers
  • External Shower and HWS
  • TV plus wind up antenna
  • Shelves to both robes
  • Extra powerpoints
  • Suncreen shade for awning

This will be our 3rd expanda, we have also owned a swan and a sterling. We lived in our sterling for 12months whilst we built a house. Two of our vans have had Shower/toilet but we have decided this time not to go the toilet option.

Plan to take this baby on a big trip next year :)

Love Jayco products would not venture elsewhere, each time we come back to Jayco.

Est time for deliver is end of June early July.

Welcome to the forum JA.

Years ago when i was buying a Swan camper, i meet a family who were selling their 9th Swan in 8 years. They hadnt anywhere to store it so they bought a van the week before Melbourne Cup long weekend, went away with it, left wherever they were till there summer break, went back for it brought it home to restock for their summer break, went away then left it their till Labour Day long weekend, went back for it brought it home to restock, went away then left it their till Easter, went back for it brought it home to restock, went away then brought it home to sell.

JaycoAddict you mention each time you came back to Jayco, is that when you were shopping for new van a got a Jayco or actually had another van, otherwise that count would be more???

Pace.

OK you win. We're only on number 3. Maybe if Swan hadn't lasted about 30 years could have been doing a bit better on the Jayco scorecard.

Antman after selling our last expanda the 18.56.2 OB we checked out tents, camper trailers both high end and cheap ones, looked again at the swan, considered the 14.44.4 and looked at what we had previously the 16.49.1 but then we took a look at the 17 footer and it ticked a few boxes generous kitchen, sleeps six so if our boys no longer want to share or want a mate to tag along we have the space.

We looked at many other brands but or the price of some of them we just keep coming back to jayco.

My in laws purchased a Winnebago and regret the purchase wishing they got the jayco optimum. My sister in law saved a few dollars and got a golf. The winder has broken 4 times band all the 4 support legs have snapped on separate occasions. Their camper has been in the workshop more than the trips they have had.

We started out tenting 4 years ago and got blown off a hill. We decided to get the swan as a starter. We used it 15 times in 12 months so we spent the extra money and got our first expanda. It was great. But then we decided to sell and build so to save and not pay rent we bought the sterling which we lived in outside my parents house.

When the house was ready we sold the sterling and bought the 18 footer but we only had that one for 6 months. We wanted something that would suit a longer trip. We were going to get the 14.44.4 but ended up a bit bigger.

Jayco is a great product hence no. 5 :)

funnily I would have tented it for a bit but my hubby likes his creature comforts.

Welcome to the forum.
So if an average wait for a Jayco is 6 months, and you are about to wait for the 5th time, that would mean all up you would have been waiting 2 and a half years!!

No real waiting for us, Swan it was 3 weeks (stock on the lot), Expanda was 1 week (stock on the lot), Sterling was 2 months, Expanda 2 was 1 week (Stock Lot) and this one will be our only one that is ordered off the line which will be about 8 weeks. We have been lucky that when we have walked into to our local dealer the van we wanted was there in the lot with what we wanted. I am not too picky about colours as long as they are dark I don't mind... we must have been one of the lucky ones that have not had to wait.

When I get a chance I will post pics of our Jayco babies...

Welcome JA,

I guess that's one way of dealing with warranty issues....just sell it and buy another with new issues....just kidding mate! Congrats on your purchase, hope it has no or not too many issues but in saying that going for a 5th says alot for Jayco! I'll keep an eye out for it in the classifieds next year.....hehehe :)

Cheers.

I am hoping this one will be a keeper. As for issues go with our vans very limited.

Swan - just the door needed alignment
Expanda no 1 - Air conditioner got replaced, problem with it, no worries from Jayco
Sterling - Seal around shower needed rectification
Expanda no 2 - glass lid on cooker was cracked on pickup so they fixed that.

I think as far as issues that is pretty minor.

Thats why we stick with Jayco... in in laws have a winne, big bucks one, the after sale service is shocking and they have had motor problems. radiator, balance system, slide out lounge leaking in rain, grey water tank leaking, kitchen sink leaking and fixed several times plus many other small things.

Cant go wrong with Jaycos - I should get a job - its a good sales pitch!

Agree. $ for $ they're great value. We only hear amore bout Jayco problems, because they make more vans than anyone else.
Spoke to an independent van repairer some time back and he told me that while he saw twice as many Jayco's as other brands, Jayco had over 60% of the market and that made them more reliable.

Found out today, our new baby will be off the line by early june with delivery late june - 1st week of July...

Looking forward to this van, hopefully this is the right one for us.

Hi JaycoAddict, we are in our 5th Jayco also and looking at our 6th next year. We have owned a Dove, Flamingo, Expanda, Sterling pop top, now a Full Sterling. We also lived in our Sterling for 12 months on a trip around Aus. We have bought ours off the floor as well but the next we will order.

Looking at the 21ft Sterling with slide out bed, front club lounge for next year. We do a lot of travelling, and are keen to do more independent camping now that we have retired.

Our Jaycos have given us so much affordable pleasure over the years.....way to go.

We have also found that they hold their value when trading up.

Still love the Expandas, so much room. Our son and daughter in law picked up their new OB Expanda not long ago, it is fantastic.

Enjoy your new Expanda.
