Hi Guys,

I thought it was about time I posted some piccies of our Expanda. It was a pretty standard 2010 16.49.1 OB, with a kakadu annex when we bought it and it had only been used a couple of times in a caravan park. Our tow rig is a 2007 V8 Petrol Landcruiser Sahara which already had an anderson plug, so we converted the Expanda over to take the anderson plug. Our other tow is a 2009 Toyota V8 Workmate (but this is only used when 3 of us are going, which isn't very often).

Before we went on our first trip we did a few mods:

* Installed a 2nd water tank
* 110 amp deep cycle battery
* 12 volt pump to kitchen tap and draw bar
* battery and water gauge monitors
* changed to LED lights throughout

Our first trip was to what we now call "our fav spot", which is near Kyogle.

Hmmm....not sure why but my piccies are coming in at the top and around the wrong way.


We have returned to our fav spot a few times. Our next major trip was out west. As you can see from the pictures it was really muddy and wet and what an effort it was to clean the expanda when we got home.

Most recently we had 5 days free camping at Flinders Beach at Straddie in early March and a week at a caravan park in Woodgate over Easter.

Okay that is the problem .

When you take a picture with an Iphone / Ipod / Ipad or anything apple they add a bit of trickery into the image file that makes there devices display the image the right way up no matter which way you take the shot.

Unfortunately the software for the forum cannot read that trickery from the file so it displays as you have taken it with the camera.

To over come this until a fix comes in I would suggest for any photo you take with plans to upload always make sure the home button of the apple device you are using to take the shot is on the right when you are taking the shot as that will ensure the correct rotation.

Not the best solution but an unfortunate event.

I thought I would post thread what we have been up to since our last post to this thread.

We did a trip to Straddie, mainly to see how we would go towing on the beach. We used to take the ally camper to Main Beach and up the narrow blows to camp, but decided on Flinders Beach just to see how we would go and for the fact we would get the expanda up some of the blows due to his width and weight.

We had no problems at all.

We also had a first stint in a Caravan Park at Woodgate for a week and this gave us a chance to use all the mod cons that came with power, like the electrical kettles, toasters and the air con.

We have also done a few other small long weekend trips out and about.

In the meantime, we sold our previous cars and bought a double cab landcruiser ute which was to become our new tow vehicle. We also did a few mods like plate stackers for the cupboards and baskets for the robe. We also fixed a shelf to the robe to become a lid for the baskets systems so that we could stack extra blankets on top or use the hanging rail above shirts etc. We also finally got around to fixing the outside light and converting it to LED.

We then decided we were going to brave taking the Expanda to Fraser over the Christmas New Year period. We were a little worried as we had not towed the panda on the beach with the new car, so we also bought some maxx trax for "just in case". I don't know what I was worried about. We got off the barge and through all the soft stuff without a problem before setting up just off the beach just before Eli Creek.

We just go back from spending a week at Iluka. What a beautiful spot. The kids r keen to head back. We had a few days of rain and had some issues with the hard lid leaking into the canvas, which I hope is sorted thanks to the help of some of u guys.
