G'day,

Thanks for everyones help so far. Firstly we had to square away a new tow truck, which we bought a Jeep GC Limited. Very happy so far. We are now embarking onto the end game which is to buy our first home on wheels. We are a family of 4, myself, wife, daughter who is 15 and a son who is 13.

We are looking towards a 21.64-1. The setup we have been working through is:

Jayco Expanda 21.64-1 Caravan
Slide Out Club Lounge
Outback
Fridge Upgrade to 184Lt AES RM4605
IBIS Airconditioner upgrade
AL-KO Drop Jacks
AL-KO Electronic Stability Control
Extended Draw Bar
Annexe Kit
Inner Spring Materesses in all Beds / Bunks
TV Antenna with socket inside the van
Control Panel - Water / Battery - Drifter
Battery Kit 100Amp
Privacy Screens (Front and Back)
Curtains on Double Beds
BBQ Gas Fitting
Drop down Picnic Table
Entertainment Pack (tv socket outside)
Fusion Sound System with Speakers inside and outside - premium pack

As well as some additional power points.

Have I missed anything or have I gone overboard anywhere?

I would appreciate anyones comments.

Thanks

DSP

Sounds good @DSP . If you get the Outback, it comes with the drop down jacks and gas bayonet as std. Curtains also come std for the end beds. Don't let your dealer charge you extra for these!
The only other things that might be handy are solar to keep the battery charged up, and maybe an external TV Ariel so you hook up a tv in the annex area.

I got a 90watt roof top solar setup as a show special when I ordered my van. It seems to go the job keeping my 205ah battery topped up, but I currently don't have much running in 12v.
If you are thinking about free camping and running things like TV/DVD, stereo and lots of lights etc, for extended periods, you may want to consider a second battery and maybe a larger solar panel than I have.

My OB had an Anderson plug on the draw bar connected straight to the battery and I just plug my 120A portable folding panel to it. Have never had a of power.

Maybe an extra table (side by side) and the Sterling double powerpoint outside. The double powerpoint is the most handy upgrade I have done. I would have 2 tables next time. Sounds an awesome van.

Well, finally it is all ordered. Now the waiting game begins, delivery due mid-late February.

Stuck pretty much to the options listed. Added a couple more power points, a couple of extra draws and doors to the storage area under the back bed.

120W Solar Panel now standard on the Outback, as idependant suspension.

Hey Kenshi..
Congrats on the new van!
Could also consider a couple of mods listed on page 2 of http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/any-essential-upgrades.4070/:
- May not need the extra room from tri-fold table with slide out option but so much comfier for using anyway; highly recommend!
- have them put switches up at hand (not foot & toddler) height ( tho they may already be in 20 series?)
- If planning lots of free camping, maybe up the solar to 200 as well? Minimal extra cost for a major difference in performance :)

We had factory mods added right up until a week or two before delivery, & well after the contract was 'finalised'.. Many are still possible if you're not wanting to change the chassis that's already being built on.
All the best for a whole new chapter with your new van, whatever you decide!!

Hi, we just ordered a 21.64-1 also, we were lucky to walk into one at the sandown camping show. I have some pics if anyone wants to see it? we have just upgraded to this from the Windsor rapid off road. We have 3 kids and the Windsor just isn't big enough now the kids are getting bigger!
Can someone tell me what the 'huge' benefits will be if we upgrade the aircon from the coleman? and how many powerpoints are there in the van as standard? We were told that they have included a double pp in the club lounge? we are not expert campers and would love to know what we would benefit from. X

Hi Karazmatic,

As it was explained to me the IBIS is a true reverse cycle air conditioner where the Coleman is not.

As far as standard powerpoints there is marked on our plan one in the club lounge.

If you ask the dealer they can provide a standard plan layout without options on it. If you get stuck PM me and I will see if I can find my copy from when we were asking the same questions.

Ours is due mid to late feb....Waiting waiting waiting.

Read somewhere in a forum on here a guy saying next time he'd definitely go the roof mounted (ibis) aircon to avoid a number of holes in the floor for the Coleman in order to avoid the significant amount of dust collected this way on off-road trips. Relevant only if you're planning a central Aust or lots of dirt roading, I guess, but maybe something to consider.
Could probably find it if you do a search; could ask directly.
We have the roof mounted bc it was quieter than the other, but I have no idea of comparisons other than that. Hope this might help a little?!
