That is awesome! I would never have thought that could be legal. Might be an issue with the 18 footer and a 2500kg towing capacity of my Prado though

Dunno? They are both from QLD and the "There's no crowd for Jim" article mentioned that his setup was completely legal in all states, he just needed a different licence for WA. I thought perhaps the towing weights as I cannot make out if the 4x4 in the first pic is a Toyota Surf or a Cruiser? It looks like an 80 series Cruiser, if so I would have thought that the weights should be fine, maybe the couplings used were a bit dodgey and not legal?

The guy who was towing the boat behind the van got it all legaled and engineered etc. If you read the article a fair amount of work went into to get it legal.
I am presuming the guys towing the skis etc didn't get it engineered but just tacked some welds together and bobs your uncle so they got a ticket.
Either way maybe the QLD police should know it is possibly legal to do it not straight out illegal as it seems to make out from the headline...

Imagine how many times the boys in blue would pull you over, and how much time you'd spend beside the road waiting while they check on the legality of it all!
I was actually looking at the Chevy's and 5th wheelers at that show room at Gympie last week...anything is possible, money is a little hard to come by these days...
Doesn't cost anything to daydream though. (There's a big 5th wheeler towed by an Iveco dual cab truck near my place.
Reverses into normal driveway and then parks it at right angles across front of house.) Wish it was as easy with the Expanda.
As I live on Straddie where the first one is taken, i can say you certainly see some sights, and they are outside the police station for their photo
