Hi fellow vanners, I have an urgent problem that needs fixing.
Just started a week end away after not using the van for a few months. Connected mains pressure hose to inlet, turned on the tap....... nothing. No water available thru kitchen, on suite outside spigot.
When I turn the pump on, I get water (from the tanks obviously) throughout.
Think it is the non-return valve (brass, 10cm long, 2-3cm thick) that connects to the inlet line just under the outside connection point.
Is there a quick fix?
Can any ningnong (me) undo the brass nuts, fix/ replace the innards?
Help

Hi mate, plenty of threads on mains pressure/inlet valves....just go through the search engine, top right of page......I have the same issue with mains pressure. In the process of replacing the valve. Just gotta go to Bunnings & get one. Some members have pulled it apart & fiddled with the spring etc.

Could be the small filter in the pressure reg, the brass thingy, something was living in the tap so when I hooked up it got flushed to the filter, gummed the whole thing up. easy to pull part just don't loose the bits.

If you csnt fix it this weekend just fill the tanks and use the pump?

Good luck. Hope you get it sorted.

Managed to undo the 'Brassy Thing' and pushed a screw driver in to flex the spring. Get water pressure upto the Pressure reducing valve/one way valve but not after. Reconnected and now getting at least some water flow, about 1 -2 l/min which is enough for now. SWMBO suggested getting a new one at least as a spare. Not sure if the I can undo the 'Brassy thing' and rejuvenate it to its former functionality.

That's what we have been using so far. Only found the issue once in-situ at McLaren Vale for the Day-on-the-green with The Angels and Billy Idol.

Ok, after my fiddle, got a slow stream of mains water going, enough for washing, hot water etc.
I used the pump and the tank water when required. Paid a visit to the Adl Jayco service centre on the way home.
Yes, the pressure/one way valve brass thingy has failed. Fix is to replace it $180 (members discount inc).
None in stock, sold out but I will try to pull it apart properly and clean it to see if I can at least have some sort of working spare.

Took mine out ! and have bought a new one and made a plug in jobbie for use at caravan parks with overly strong pressure http://www.bunnings.com.au/valve-pressure-limit-nefa-500kpa-15x15mm-f-plv500fhs_p5070005 will take a pic and put it up when the van is back from service

Hi @Capt. Gadget - I am just about to head out to Bunnings to buy one of these NEFA pressure limiting valves to hopefully solve my woeful water pressure problems. Is that all I will need?

If you are going to put back in the same place then yes ooh and maybe some thread tape!

Ok good to know! Just went and bought one, so hubby can install it this weekend :)

I also contacted Jayco locally just to see what they had in the way of pressure reducing options, and they sell the same one that is already on the van - they did say they could replace it under warranty, but my concern is that it would be the same as the original one? (in terms of dodgy pressure I mean)

Ours is playing up too.
As our van is going to be serviced and a few things fixed under warranty at the end of June I don't want to pay for a new one .
So I installed a bypass valve that I can open and let's the water go around the pressure valve and jayco can replace the faulty valve and if it was to play up again I'd only need to open the bypass again
