Hi all, new to forum and introduced to this website by a new member also. They recently picked up a new 17.56.1 and so far, I must admit I am quite smitten.. Now all I need to do is see how the hell I can update my Swan without having to upgrade my car... If there are any ideas your wisdom may be able to share, please join in.. I have done a great deal of reading so far regarding the tow vehicles and read with interest one about the v6 sportswagon and the 17.56.1 . I am unable to attach and link to it at present, only because I haven't yet worked out how to do it... :(.. But hope to soon...
Anyway we look forward to exploring the world of Expandas and hopefully one day soon.. Be sprouting off my very own new or 2nd hand on soon...

Welcome to the forum @Arkraider
We have a V8 Sportswagon and being Auto are able to tow 2100kgs. Fairly sure the V6's are the same (Think from memory manuals are only around 1600kgs?)
Towed our old 16.49.3 tourer/standard model no probs. Unfortunately we can't tow the newer 17.56.2 Outback with it "legally".

If towing with a 2WD you shouldn't have any issues towing a standard 16' expanda van.

Thanks @dagree, I have a V8 Calais sedan that I hope to be keeping. I won't be needing an out back version in any shape or form and hope to also re-expand the family group. That was why I am thinking of looking at the 17.56.1 at Page Bros first and then at the caravan & Camping show at the Melb show grounds this year...

To everyone else, thanks also for your kind welcome...

hi @Arkraider I also have a V8 Calais (VF) that I love and I am not getting rid of (I do miss my dual cab Navara tho). I am in a position where I have to buy a caravan to live in while my house is being built and I have chosen the 17.56 1. you have the same concerns as myself about the way it will tow. I was lucky to find Jayco in Albury had one in stock and I will be picking it up on Friday next week. I have lowered my car (Factory fitted) and that is where my biggest concerns are, I have looked into fitting the air bag suspension onto the car and found that it will cost $550 plus fitting. as I have a three hour drive back home after I pick up my new van I will report back to you on how it went and wether or not I will be adding the suspension pack.

I would love to hear from others about their thoughts.....

hiya @Macca666 as your car is lowered........... sorry to say, but.........
you will need to put the Airbags in.....

the advantage is that you can let the air out (down to 1 - 0.5 psi) and regain your lowered status when NOT towing

the advantage's (or disadvantage) of a flash car mate...........

It will be interesting to see how you go @Macca666 especially for me... A bit selfish I know...
But as I am looking at trading to a 17.56.1 from my current swan later this year... Need to follow options..
I really have my head set on a 56.1 instead of the smaller van also...
