So what do you guys think would be enough coverage for the 240kg tow ball weight on my new van when I go to purchase next vehicle?

250kg or more?

Would love for 250kg to be ok as I,m only buying a cheapy so I can keep my Adventra and it would give me more avenues as to which rig I can buy like maybe a Pajero or Prado even.

If I need more maybe around 300kg it will narrow it down massively.

The guys at dealership seem to think I will need the 300kg for when the bottles are full of gas etc, but if I had water in the rear tank would that not counter balance that?

Your opinions on this would be very much appreciated.

cheers

Personally, I wouldn't be happy to tow that close to my limit.
while yes you may have some counterbalance, but you are guaranteed to carry some weight in front of the axles.

as I said it's to close to your limit, get a vehicle that has at least a 300kg limit.

BTW, what are you towing

If it was me I would go 300kg minimum

if you have 2 gas bottles there's 18kg just the gas not the bottles themselves. Then if you fill the front boot there is more weight there.

Remember the water tanks aren't walkways full either :)

It's a tough call but better to be safe Imo
