Hi Everyone,

I am a new member but read many posts on and off over the last while.

We ordered our new 17.56-2 OB a few months back and its due early to mid August. Cant wait.

Myself the wife and 2 kids 5 & 3 year old got into camping over the last year and a half after buying a new Jayco Swan OB. Having a stressfull job, I find the hollidays to local and distant caravan parks the best. Nice and relaxing, kids find freinds easily and have met some great people along the way. Yet to have a bad experience really.

There seams to be a lot of great ideas on this forum and anything I can add I will. Thanks heaps in advance guys.

Look forward to chatting.

Feldty

Welcome to the forum, feldty. Let's know where you are from and you will be given lots of info on local camping. Don't forget to post up photos of the new van when it arrives and tell us about your options etc.

Oop, just read your other post with your options listed. Looks great.

Thanks Chartrock,

We are from Wangaratta, Vic. We do a little Murray River camping, but with the youngest (3YO) being a little on the handful side, we are still a little nervous about the water. A couple more years and we will spend plenty of time over there.

Any advise or suggestions would be most appreciated.

We ordered the 17.56-2.....

The options we have fitted are as follows.
- Awning c/w annex walls
- Bed Flies both ends
- 100 amp battery
- External TV point
- Wind up antenna
- Control panel (fitted near sink)
- 150 lt Fridge
- Sparrow roof top aircon (Sounds like it is the go)
- External shower
- Extended Drawbar (try to fit kids bikes on there somehow)
- Anderson Plug to Battery c/w 6mm wire (worth considering for faster charging)
- Picnic Table

That is about it, as we were already over budget really.

Laminex Color - Amore
Seat & Cushions are the Brown Type.

One thing we did was specify the Microwave to go where the Herron AC would normally go. This I think will give us more usable cupboard space around the fridge and also be easier to access near the sink etc.

Cant wait till it comes, very excited.

Congrats Feldty
We will also get our 17.56.2 in mid August. They are no doubt in the same run at the factory!
I'm driving down from Sydney to Melbourne to pick it up, and have friends near Wang so I might drop by that part of the world on the way back.

Sounds like you have same plan we do. Our 17.56-2OB is due mid August and we're also driving from Sydney to Melbourne to pick it up, with a stopover near Wodonga on the way down. We're planning to come home via the coast (Eden and Ulladulla) over a week to really test out the new van.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Will definitely keep in touch over the next little while and let you all know how our order pans out.
We have already booked a couple of getaways. One to Echuca for 3 nights and one to Noosa for 10 nights.
Its going to be a long winter waiting.....

Big Relief. New van obviously due in August and have been advertising our Swan OB 2011 for 6 weeks now. Finally sold for 25K. Not a bad price considering we are in the middle of winter I would have thought. I hope we did not sell it too cheap anyway. This is way over the price offered as a trade in.

Thats great news, I bet you can't wait for the Expanda now, we did the same thing sold our OB Hawk privately then waited for the Expanda.

No looking back now

Good to see you on here Feldty, it's a good site to explore. Look at me up at 5:30 camping at Maaroom and straight on to the site. Mind you it's cosy with the electric blanket on and the iPad 3G in hand.
Cheers Deano

Thanks for the welcome deano. I love the site. I have spent hours running back through different threads to get an idea for different mods etc. it's almost a little addictive. Some of the stone guard mods look like the go as well as the front box on the drawbar. Will definently be getting one of those.
It would be nice to be camping this weekend, but I guess the wait will not hurt me. Kids are very excited too.
