heloo all. to any one that is not a member of mysawg.org here is a link that may impact us all. new gas regulations that are trying to go national. eg having gas bottles mounted inside of draw bar, annexes that must have the same gas outlet and inlet vents as the van and the use of quick disconects / baeonetts that are not been approved ( apparently none on the market have been supplyed to be ceritified by the powers that be). this is planed to be efective this year. so to sell a van it must comply with the new regs.
i wonder what changes jayco will be forced to make to the gas bottles and spare location?

The way I read that is quick connect fittings only, bayonet fittings have been in use in domestic installations for connecting portable gas heaters for years and no where in that article do they talk about banning bayonet fittings.

Why it is illegal to connect stoves with hoses and quick connects?
Stove manufacturers stipulate how they want their appliances installed and whether or not a flexible hose is permissible or not.
Most quick connector's manufacturers do not submit their products for approval to be used for LP gas. Unless this formal testing and approval process is followed, it is illegal to connect a cooker/stove via one of these types of connectors.

I did however note that the maximum length of a flexible hose for a BBQ is only 1200mm so we may have a problem with 3M hoses as alot of us have.

Why is there a problem with using portable gas appliances within enclosed RV annexes connected to the RV gas supply?
Portable appliances are designed and approved specifically to AS2658 and be operated outdoors in open air situations.

Barbeques are designed and approved to AS4557 Domestic outdoor gas barbeques, must be operated outdoors only.

They can only be operated when connected directly to a single gas cylinder via a single stage pressure regulator and a short (1200mm long max) flexible hose.

So while a flexible hose may be permissible it can be no longer than 1200mm, go figure.

I myself will be keeping my 3M hose so the Baby Q is away from the van, I personally think its regulation gone mad but that's my opinion only.
