Hi all,
New to the forum and expandas
Picked up our new 16.49-3 expanda in may, just been sitting in shed for 4 weeks untouched until a few weekends ago when the fun started.
Had to modify the missus office in the garage, expanda to long about 200mm.
Missus wasn't happy (a lot of plaster dust) but happy now all done and van in its place.
So on with the mods, a
lready have modded the 12 volt system, don't know why jayco put switches down low near the setec charger, lazy.
A couple of mods already done.
1. Move heater, battery switch and monitor to panel on right above the sink
2. Install bm1 battery monitor
3. Install 2 x gel cell batteries
4. Installed 240 volt interface relay to disconnect battery from setec unit when plugged into 240v, ready for ctek 240v charger and dc/dc charger
5. Installed small draw under sink
6. Replaced panel on the end of seat where the the switches where removed

More mods and photos to follow
Cheers Rossco

Welcome Rossco. Great start, although it's a bit lazy relocating the switches, as if it would hurt you to crawl simply under a table or something to flick a switch.:redface-50:

Welcome roscoe. Wow that is a tight fit in the garage. Very impressed also that you tackled all those wires and managed to move them from under the seat to their new positions.
where did you get the replacement panels?

Thanks all for the welcome
The cabling is easy for me as I am a sparky with a background in electronics
Extended cables using 3 x 4 core 2.5mm flex cable ( have some spares for future)
I went to jayco in dandenong and got 2 pieces of off cuts 1x 9mm and 1x 12mm cost $10 each, well worth it.
It makes adding and changing things a lot neater.
All you need is you chassis number and they can look up what colour your van has
I am going to use the rest to make shelves.

I wonder how long they keep stock of previous colours, might be the way to go for our bed mod, Might check with our dealer when we drop the van in .

Well have been tossing up for weeks now what stereo I should put into the van, I'm a gadgets bloke and was thinking about putting a sonos unit in with a good headunit, when I came across the fushion ms-av700 marine unit, yes a bit expensive but what a great unit with ethernet, app control and 4 zones. So I couldn't help myself and had to go out and buy one, I glad I did, installed it on the weekend and very happy with the unit highly recommended.
Been busy with mods, and heaps more to go.
Some pics of mods done on weekend.
Sorry pics wont upload at the moment.

Yeah mate got one of those in my van, pretty good stuff especially when you watch dvd's through it for that surround sound feel!

Great choice!

Hamish,
Yes very happy with it, I just wish I had found it earlier as I had pulled one of my sonos units apart for a 12v retrofit.
Well hope it goes back together alright, just another thing to do. lol

I like your style Rossco, nice mods.

My neighbour up the road from me drove his van out of the garage with the poptop up. Turned his van into a convertible. Just something to remember.

I should have no problems I have a 3.5mt opening so plenty of height, house built on stumps.
When we built the house the garage was design to fit a 20 foot plus caravan or boat, but the missus wanted a office out there (away from the kids) so the length of the garage got smaller x 3.5 mts, thats why I had to make her office 300mm smaller.
Did I hear about that for a month or 2, actually still hearing about it now. lol
