Just saw the ad for the new Pajero Sport, looks interesting and doesn't seem to have the drop in towing limits when over 2 tonne from what I can see anyway, looks like a 5 seater only though.

Might be of interest to some people? although I also just saw they are eventually removing the Pajero from the range here not sure if this relates to the new "Sport" version.

Yep it's the replacement for the Challenger hence only five seats, though I heard it was still meant to wear the Challenger badge, a bit ugly I think but I guess it will grow on you.

These are now being delivered to dealers , none of our local dealers have them yet but expected this week, rang 3 others who have stock already and pricing is pretty reasonable

I don't mind the look of it not so much the rear. Much better looking than the Challenger.

So just happen to drive past a dealer today that had 2 sitting out front and one in in yard in front of the showroom so in i went, after a good old chat to a reasonably well informed junior sales person who ran through the features of the vehicle we were off for a test drive in the top spec Exceed, which btw is currently price at 54 k driveaway next model down was 48 k. Ride was about what you would expect fromm any 4B though seating i found.to be pretty comfy with good suport even with lack of adjustable lumbar suport. It was reasonably quiet from wind and road noise, engine noise was certainly bearable and a lot better than my current pajero.
The 8 speed auto was smooth with a slight hint of turbo lag on take off, the electric push btton hand brake would take some getting use too as would the lack of CD player, the only hint of Challenger would be the rear cargo area which is huge and the rear sits high like the Challenger, like most of the new 4b's the Mitsi Super Select 4wd is now a dial select offering 2wd 4wd (high unlocked) 4wd high locked and 4wd low locked there's also a rear diff lock at the push of a button.
Not sure how this little oil burner (diesel) would go with the claimed tow weight on the rear, guess we''' just have to asked the Triton/Challenger owners who tow with them as it sports the same engine.

The fit and finish is very good and good value for money , if you could only get use to those looks! Let see if ARB can come up with a bar for it.

Went to have a look at these on the weekend.
Dealers not expecting delivery till this week.
The dealer talked them up though , he reckons they've
got better off road capabilities than the Triton.
Not a bad price either.
Might have a look next weekend.

That would be because of all their traction aids and the coil springs in the rear, dealer we spoke to said on the drive day they had, they towed a Mitsi ASX around on a car trailer handled it with ease he said.
