New car tow bar bike fitting

Hey all just purchased one of these as, like many on here I am always looking for a way to carry bikes.

I have measured (dangerous for me so DO NOT take it as a given) and plan to leave it on the Prado all the time as I can still (Again I think) open the bark doo and still just fit the bike carrier without having to remove the tow unit.

Lets see how this goes.

my bike is massive, I believe it would get caught up in the draw bar somehow when turning?

Does it meet Aust standards.
If it snaps at the welds will Insarnce cover your van ?

Looks like the Warning label gives you a bit more info

5000lbs or 2267kg Max Load and 500lbs or 226kg ball weight

would be an interesting conversation with the insurance company........

I'm putting 2 or 3 kids bikes on it so should be fine

Is that on the tow ball or the extra socket part? Or combined?

I saw one of those the other week, and asked a mate of mine who is in Engineering

he said, "as long as you ONLY use the top part for a bike carrier, and NEVER for anything else, you are within the Law"

until some knob puts a snatch strap, or something else in there, it should be ok to use

Okay jokes aside ...What's the ball weight of your van loaded? Then add the weight of the bike racks and bikes. Plus the luggage and extras on the car. I suspect there won't be much change left out of 250kgs.
