Hi, we have just purchased the new 21.64 expanda and as we are not expert campers (have been vanning for about 5 years (and growing up as a kid) but we wondered if anyone could help us on things that we might kick ourselves for if we don't add them to the van now.

It apparently comes standard with
100AH battery
LED strip light to awning
upgraded SMEV cooktop
light to tunnel boots
single fold centre zip innerspring mattress
double PP to dinette
Solar provision
Slide out club lounge as standard

We have ordered as extra the

18" tv
wind up antenna
privacy shades
12 watt solar panel
gas bayonet
full canvas annexe

Is it worth enquiry about more powerpoints? And what other extras do you think we would kick ourselves for if we didn't include them?

Considering getting...

external entertainment unit provision (TV points etc)
Shelves to robes
Bike Rack???

We were told that the 120 watt solar panel would be sufficient if we wanted to go to free sites with the 100AH battery? Do you agree?

What other options could we look at?

And also wondered if you can give me insight into the fabric colours. We are looking at getting a navy blue cushion covering with navy and grey pattern at the top, with the dark slate look bench top but worried it might make the van look too dark? Any suggestions?

The pics attached for those that haven't seen the van is from the sample van at the Sandown camping fest end of last year... The room in this van is phenomenal and perfect for a family with 3 or more kids :) We can't wait to get it! Will be heaven compared to our squishy little Windsor rapid

I would recommend the outside picnic table and there are some vans on here that have 2 tables. We had one put on our van and I just love it. We had the 90watt solar panel in our show special but the Sales guy upped it to a 150 watt for free.

Thanks Joanne :) We have just bought a new picnic table set (Boab brand I think) from Ray's so my hubby decided that would do lol
Its only $40 difference between the 120 Watt and the 150 Watt solar panel so I'm thinking we are better off upgrading that?

I would recommend the following items.

Extra awning light
Awning light on the far side above the toilet cassette door
Extra power point outside
Tv outlet outside
Two fold down tables outside
Extended drawbar for if at anytime you want to add a box for storage.
Third water tank if you are planning on free camping
Gas BBQ outlet at the front and rear of the van
Gas hotwater and battery isolated switch moved to a higher location away from little kiddies fingers.

Did you go for the outback or touring model? If it`s a touring a lot of people on here have underslung their axels for better clearance, it could be handy for a van of this length.

we went for browns in seat covering but was thinking more of this color doesnt show the dirt as much and the van still looks bright inside.

We went for the outback model personal choice for what ever you are going to do. Yes if I was to buy a onroad model under slinging the axles would be my first option.

If you have kids ,get the bike rack. I wasn't sure about it when ordering mine but I am so glad I did as the van has not done a trip yet without a bike or two on the back. So much easier than inside the van/car etc.
I also got the extended draw bar as it allows you to fully open the Prado rear door with the bed set up and van still attached to vehicle on those one night stops

Agree with @jdove we were hesitant on the bike rack on the back of ours (ours is a solid wall) and decided not too as we had a Hilux so could chuck the bikes in that... Fast forward a few months and the Hilux was traded and now have nowhere to carry the bikes! New we should have got it!

Going to have to get retrofitted now so will cost extra $$$

I Agree with chooka list....def get the outside table and extra lights, we use them all the time, when you pull up late for an overnighter you don't want to pull out a camping table. Our boys also find the outside shower handy when around sandy camp spots.
