Hey everyone,

New SA member here.
We bought our Expanda about a year ago, I believe its a 16-49OB but unsure of the model?
It has queen bed at the front, double at the rear, shower, dunny, hot water service etc.
(If anyoine can tell me the model that would be good).

So far I have replaced all the silicone in the bathroom, had waterproof bed storm covers made, put a rear view camera on, fitted a 150ah battery, changed the anode and fitted a brand new awning.

Future mods will be to relocate the spare from the A frame to the rear bar with a drop down mount, fit a large storage bar on the front, Solar on the roof and put bigger wheels on for more clearance.

My car is a turbo diesel manual Triton with the following mods;
Lifted
All Terrain tyres
TJM bull bar
Warn winch
Under body bash plates
120L long range fuel tank
UHF
2x 23" light bars up front
1x 6" LED reverse light
Electronic brake controller
Roof racks
Duel batteries with isolator
Weight distribution hitch
Kenwood TV
ARB awning

Future mods include bigger light bar on the roof, bigger rims with muddies, DP chip and exhaust for more power.

We have been on about 8 trips and really enjoy the free camping with unpowered sites and living off the vans power.

Thanks for your comments guys, after doing some research last night I thought it might have been a -3.
I get the 16 means 16ft, what does the 49 mean?
(Sorry new to all this)

As you can see we have a 14.44-5 OB
14' = 4.4m, model 5 Out Back
14' isn't exactly 4.4m but then again if you measure it, it isn't exactly 14' either.
The length measurement varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and also model to model.
It's actually 14' 4" but they only ever give van lengths in integral feet.
If you check the various Jayco models, you will find the correlation is fairly accurate.

I was of the understanding that the centre grouping of numbers in the model numbers was the layout orientation for that size van. Then the ending numbers were the options available (seating, toilet/shower combo, separate bathroom and so on)

Willing to be corrected of course. Pace.

Could be but the correlation seems too obvious to me. If the second set of numbers are as you say, why are they not the same for 'identical' layouts in different length vans?
The only way to resolve this is for a Jayco person to supply the answer.
My theory is not original, I heard it somewhere and started doing some simple Maths that seemed to verify it.
It is a good yarn anyway and I'm sticking to it until informed otherwise.
Jayco person out there? ( who is probably having a good giggle!)

You came out with the guess with such conviction to ....

I am still convinced! Will require an official statement from Jayco to convince me otherwise.
Good discussion point though!

I agree with you, @Marv_mart. My old 14-44-3 and your 14-44-4 are completely different in layout as designated by the -3 and -4 while the 14-44 is the same for both vans, and the 4.4 metres equals approximately 14' 5"
