Has any forum member got any advice to offer re these two National Parks? We are aiming to be there in the first week or so of the upcoming NSW school holidays - preferably free camping. Will be in our Expanda plus son, daughter - in - law and their baby in their camper trailer.

Thanks Bill

Theres a few in the Grampians area, not all accessible for vans of all (or for some, any) size. Call the National Park office in Halls Gap - they'll be able to give you more info. You'll also need to buy the camping permit from them ($15 or so I think)
There are a couple of spots around Mount Zero/Mount Stapleton area at the Northern end.
Buandik Campground - in the Nat Park but was closed after the floods. Not sure if reopened. Also might've been small vans only, can't remember. Glendinnings camp in the west (south of Black Range state forest) camping permit also
South Mill Campground, near Lake Wartook. Check about vans gouing up mt victory road though
Jimmy Creek - In the Nat Park half way between Halls gap and Dunkeld. Don't really know anything about this one.
Buandik Campground - in the Nat Park but was closed after the floods. Not sure if reopened. Also might've been small vans only, can't remember.
Borough Huts area I think there's one too

Sorry - all a bit vague as we stayed in the c'van park last time and cabins before the caravan days.

Gday Bill, I remember Kenshi123 stayed at that park not long after picking up his van. We stayed at grampians gardens tourist park and it was ok not great though. We went for a drive up to lake Wartook and on the way back had a look at Smith Mill campsiteand it is a ripper with really clean drop toilets and even a flash bucket shower setup. It`s a windy road up there though fees were about $16 bucks a night and you can pay by phone or at the tourist center in halls gap, sites looked ok too.

WHAT A NIGHT - rain and wind gusts to 100km/hr (at least that is what was suggested)! All intact - Aussie Traveller anti flap kit worth its weight in gold - awning intact - table blown out from under awning.
We had the Holiday annexes bed flys on - one downside - need extra press studs as the wind was strong enough to undo them at times. Still stayed dry though.
Truma heater working well - nice and toasty.
Son's camper trailer (our old one) has stayed intact as well.

Walked up Hollow mountain yesterday and visited Toscana olives - bought some fantastic dukkah and olive oil. A good day, esp. being able to share it with family.......

What will today bring?!?! Hope the weather settles but forecast is not very hopeful

Brad and Pace - would have retracted awning if I hadn't installed the Aussie Traveller bars. As I said previously they work really well - just had to do a slight readjustment yesterday - the bars come in two sections - where they joined the awning had loosened slightly - all I had to do was untension each side and then retension - hope I make sense!
