Has anyone done the trip to Mt Conner?

We're heading to Central in Sept:cheer2: and the missus thought the day trip to Mt Conner sounded good. But at $650, or $1100 with dinner for the family its a bit on the pricey side, so better be pretty flammin' spectacular. As it is private property, there is no other access apparently other than this tour.

3hr flight (the shorter one) $790 per person
even a 15 minute over Uluru for the 5 of us is $750

plus last time I was in NT I took a flight over kakadu, and...well.....:puke:

I remember just taking a look at it as we drove along the Lasseter Hwy towards Yulara.
That was as close as we got to it. We never even contemplated taking a tour over there to be honest.

I'd save the money if it was me.

@straydingo

I did a trip in '78 with my parents to Ayres Rock as it was known then, on our way out we diverted down through Mulga Park Rd which goes close by Mt Conner and eventually comes out on the Stuart Hwy just north of the border. When we were there in September last year I pointed the turn off out to Jackie and the kids but we were a bit pushed for time so didn't go that way. We were heading up from the south and I considered doing it as an alternative route to the main road turning off at Erldunda. From memory we stopped in at a station along the Mulga Park road but don't ask me the name of it.

Curtain Springs Cattle Station probably. They are the one who own the land all around it and thus can charge the stupid rates they do...

@straydingo that's the name of it, I remember now, but I'm sure the road is a public thoroughfare, sure you can't go onto their property without permission but you can get a bit closer and the country out through there from memory was quite wild.
